Hi bob
ok you never get a real 3D just a sub 3d more like a relief. I do it all the time with some ikone's for churches see picture.
if you got a good picture convert it to greyscale save it with 638dpi then import it in lasercad, dithere it with about 0.015- 0.018
set the scan gap to 0.04 and the speed to around 160mm/s, the power to about 10%.depending on the wood you are using. the wood in the picture is cherry wood.
maybe this helps
greetings

I would like to be able to engrave 3d name plates for model ship builders. Model ship builders always want a small sign with the name of their model ship, the date of the ship that the model represents, their name, and the date they built the model. I want to go beyond plain engraving of such a sign and include 3d graphics so that the sign has depth and looks more professionally done that what most companies can provide.
I would also like to provide a service to make 3d cuttings from drawings shown on gantryco.com . I don't mind spending time to set power for 256 shades of grey because in the end, what I could create would pay for my time in terms of sales.
Marco, is there any way you can get the programmer to add this feature? I might even be willing to pay something to get it added.
Thanks,
Bob
