Start point in Lasercad v5.95

Post by liaoh75 »

Hi All,

I have been having a lot of fun with the 2012 DSP and have learned a lot. I've been happily test cutting a number of materials. I came from the CNC router world and use Vectric's Aspire product. I am quite familiar with node editing and and start points for cuts. In Vectric Aspire, when I go into "node edit" mode and I select a vector object, I can manually change the start node. I've been searching for this functionality in Lasercad, but have not had any success.

Two questions.

1) Is there a way to manually change the start point for a cut directly from Lasercad? For example, if I left click on a node in Vectric Aspire, one of the choices is "Start Point". When I go to cut something on my router, it will start the cut from the point I designate or an automatic point if I don't specify. Usually, these points are corners and not sides (unless the vector is an arc) to make the entry and exit points less noticable. I know that I have the option in Lasercad to add ramp in and out (called "auto cutting guide line" in Lasercad) but usually these points are the sides of even square objects. I can't change where these points are put in.

2) If changing the start point is not possible directly from Lasercad, can I do something in Corel X5 to let Lasercad know where I want the entry point to be?

Thank You,

David

You can change the order of the objects and you can change the direction of cut for each object. You cannot change the start point of the individual objects.

Is it possible to add this functionality for Lasercad in a future version? It would make the software more versatile. - Thanks

Tim:

I talked to Li (programmer) and said that the start point is controllable. Make sure that all three option are NOT "checked" See attached images.

After clicking "Manual order", all art work will show a start point (in red dot) . By moving around the Red Dot , you're changing the starting point as wish. At the same the time, there is a arrow indicating the direction of the route. By the way, before sending the job to laser for a real work, you can do simulation using "Simulate" feature under the Tool menu.

Note: you can change the speed of the simulation by holding "Shift" & "-" or "Shift" & "+" It's a cool feature!
