Feature Request: Hole Punching Offset

Post by Chuleo »

Dear Marco

I Have a request for a new feature which is often present in machines from big companies.

When a circle or a square is lasered, the laser punches the hole on the vector line and then drives along the vector.
Is it possible to implement that the hole is punched near the vector line and then the laser drives along the line?

I made a sketch to show what i mean: its a poor sketch but one should get what i mean.

Why do I request this feature? When plastic without protection foil or wood is cut, the laser leaves ugly marks on the surface which can hardly be removed.
It takes a lot of time to cover the plastic sheets with a protective foil, so it would be much easier if the DSP supports this feature.

Here is a sample (large pictures)

It is not a easy task and I don't think Li is willing to make such a big change on LaserCad. For you a hole is what you need. But for other the cut out is what they need. So, how could the LaserCad tell whether you need the cut hole or the cut out? Because one it is fire out the laser it will damage the materials and wasted it.

FYI, I can't open YouTube or Gmail as all these two services are blocked in China. I'll forward the link to Li and let him see anyway

No its not a big change. Just add another work mode. There are already 5 work modes: Cut, Engrave, Cut after Engrave, Hole & Pen run

You would have to select all holes and put it to a different layer and create a new work mode (or modify the hole work mode), then every object with this work mode is cut with an offset. The rest (lines etc) would be processed in the normal cut mode.

Hi ,

Marco don't make Li busy because there is already a mode for holes and cutting lines , I'm sure it will help Chuleo.

Just open lasercad, draw circle .there is auto cutting guide line in tools. select cutting in("out" if you need circle piece ) guid line and write 5mm( -5mm or what you want).

You can change and move lines in tools>edit cutting line.

Thats all.

Good luck.

Marco check my mail when you back.

Ok thanks I will try it... I hope it can be done with selecting multiple holes at once... otherwise its not practical.
