Engraving - in and out

Post by NickWL »

Using a K40 with DSP, CorelDraw and LaserCAD:

I think I'm being dumb, if so then so be it... How to I change engraving from 'innie' to 'outie'? i.e. from cutting away the image to cutting away the background?

Thanks to Walt the innie-outie problem is solved ... only to reveal the next problem!
This is a K-40 with a complete DSP (Ligtobject's of course!) replacement control system, drawing done in CorelDRAW and fed to the machine via LaserCAD.

The x-axis keeps skipping anything from 1 to 3mm to the right, easily seen at the perimeter of this circle where it has happened several times (although the topmost 'skip' is - confusingly - to the left!). If this was on my 3D printer I'd say I was printing too fast but I'm not yet familiar enough with this system to know whether the same analysis applies.
Does it?

Thanks Walt - by 'stepper driver to a lower setting' do you mean the current capacity of the hardware module? Or a setting within LaserCAD?
Thanks

The stepper drivers are M415B from Lightobject, the relevant DIP switches and table are shown in the attached pictures.
The first 3 DIPs are set to give a current of 0.63A.
