"X Y Axis home on power" broken?
I can't turn off "X Y Axis home on power"
Reading, saving , no matter what I try. What am I missing, or is it broken in this software/firmware version?
LaserCad V6.88
Firmware V 8.13.10.31

Re: "X Y Axis home on power" broken?
Just to be clear.
I want to turn "X Y Axis home on power" OFF.
When using the rotary axis in place of Y axis I can not start the machine up without manually triggering the Y axis home switch as it references itself.
This is tedious and unnecessary.
Should be able to simply turn off "X Y Axis home on power"

hi there
you need to set this in manufacturer settings but first read then change then save.
but first you need to make sure that your endswitches are working. don't believe a meter reading on machine off pull the gantry in the middle of the area then turn machine on then push the x endswitch if the switch is working the gantry should stop in x direction then do the same with the Y axis
greetings

Nothing wrong with my home switches.
"Read then change then save" till I am blue in the face. "X Y Axis home on power" setting will not "Stick" Reverts to "Checked"

Try enable the "Rotate Engrave" feature
It will disable "Y" limit and it is totally in-dependable to the Y paramters

Tried that a number of times. It does not disable Y axis homing on startup.
Also I do not use that part of the software because it mostly does not work.
It only works for engraving. It does not work for "cut" or what I call vector engraving. It does not work for "Run Box"
On older versions of firmware you could disable "X Y Axis home on power" by unchecking the box.
Now with my current firmware version this setting is ignored.
Read, uncheck the box, save the change, and read again. It has defaulted back to checked or selected.
Either I am doing something stupid or it needs programmer attention.

Yes, you're right. The disable of "XY limit" won't function on the LaserCad.
To disable XY limit switch, you can do it:
Open the SoftCfg.ini file with notepad
Change the "IfEnableLineMode="0" to "1"
That will be enable Power on without using the limit switches

I did the work around that you described. It works as far as disabling or overriding "X Y Axis home on power", but it introduces other problems.
The X and Y axis arbitrarily move to another position on startup. DROs do not reflect this movement. This erroneous movement can cause the axis to crash if you happen to start with an axis near end of travel.
As a work around it is therefore unsatisfactory.
The "X Y Axis home on power" selection did work on previous versions. I don't know on what version it was broken. I just know it is broken on my current version.
Can it be fixed? If not, then can you provide me with an older version that works properly?

That is the reason why Li disable the option of allowing disable the "XY limit" switch. It will cause a lot of trouble to new user. The best solution is to use "STOP" button on the LCD control unit to disable the necessary of Y limit triggering when using rotary.

It has worked well for a long time. You simply turned that selection on if required, and off if not required.
What possible reason to disable a perfectly good and properly functioning feature.
Can you please supply me with the last version before this was disabled.

Re: "X Y Axis home on power" broken?
I have discussed with the programmer and he insisted that he did NOT change other things beside just disable the option with that configuration file I showed you. The reason the Y may swing because you didn't have Origin set before the limit switch is disabled. You may want to do it before you disable Y and use the "Origin" key to setup the laser head location before doing that.
Well, out of frustration and reluctance, he worked out another patch to disable any movement when power on with XY limit switch disabled. He warned that doing so is very dangerous as there is no limit protection so if anyone have art work exceed the work area, both XY will slam to the side and may damage the XY stage. I'll test the OS before I send to you.
I really have no idea which version will work for you. You may tried to downgrade your OS one by one till you found one that may work for you. Sometimes it may not be the OS but the initialed setup you had before any changed applied. In any case, you can just the "STOP" switch to prevent the XY to return physical origin to get (0,0). Again, without this (0,0) initiated, the machine will has no idea what location the laser is stayed. Use this feature on your own risk!

Unfortunately I did not retain any of the older versions myself.
There was a change made that allowed the Z axis to be moved below starting point after startup. I don't remember when that occurred.
I would like the version of software, including V8 firmware, just after that change.
If I can get that I will never upgrade again.

Re: "X Y Axis home on power" broken?
OK I guess there is no earlier version available. That's a shame.
Much more desirable would be to reinstate the way it has worked for a long time. Ability to disable "X Y Axis home on power"
Greolt
After making the config change you described and presetting Origin makes no difference. At startup or reset X and Y move rapidly some distance. Very undesirable, and a little bit dangerous.Tech_Marco wrote:I have discussed with the programmer and he insisted that he did NOT change other things beside just disable the option with that configuration file I showed you. That will be good Marco. Stop does work eventually to terminate the homing routine, but not immediately. Repeated pressing takes about four presses before having an effect. Holding it down still takes seconds to work. Not really satisfactory. In any case, you can just the "STOP" switch to prevent the XY to return physical origin to get (0,0).

You have all the links I sent you. You can test each one and found out which OS work for your particular interest. I don't think I should be blamed on keeping track of each detail things you need as I'm NOT the programmer and I have no idea what was changed fundamentally.
So far, you're the only one want the XY limit switch to be disabled which is considered a very odd 'operation' for the laser machine. Note that you can't simply use CNC or whatever other system you had hands on and wanted that happened on the DSP controller. I found that the more flexible we're to allow customer request, the more trouble we're encountering. Seems that the request is never satisfied and fulfilled. It give me a lot of difficult to deal with the supplier as I'm always being blamed by both parties; user and the programmer. That' suck, isn't it
