Need help with getting setup properly.

do you know how to adjust the beam??

Yeah, not had much practice as I only had the machine a few weeks before I ripped the guts out of it So it didn't get much use. I think I may have the tube too far away, its a little shorter than the one supplied with the machine (that one died about three hours into it) by about an inch, but I'd heard that you need it 2" away so I might try it closer.

I hadn't thought of the stick with tape on to find the beam spot, thats a great idea, I just used any old piece of paper I could find.

I guess I know what I'm doing tomorrow, I hate fiddling with the mirrors though.

I just need to tell you, be patient do it right and you will even safe the life of your tube. if you have one point centered go back and forth a few times and check then after youhave adjusted to the next mirror do it again go back and forth also with the previous mirror then move on to the next.
this system pays off and you get much more power and accuracy out of your system.

Hmm, thought I'd cracked it this morning, I got it to focus nicely,but looking closer the bounce from mirror 1 to mirror 2 is slightly teardrop shaped, and then from mirror 2 to the final mirror its more pronounced. I might put all my original mirrors back in as I'm using the hard drive ones, and see if it makes a difference.

the reason for the dformation is that the beam hits somewhere the mirror holder frame!!!

Hey Walt it wasn't that, the mirror had a web of fine scratches that must have diffused it. I turned it over to the new side and it works fine now. Just cutting some mountboard as we speak.
