Hi All,
Well decided on the replacement controller and going to be the X7DSP, but need to check something.
My current laser cutter has leadshine 573S15-L stepper motors, the question is leave or replace as want to get it right first time.
Cheers
Pete

Re: Stepper motors
It is irrelevant. The DSP has nothing to do with the type of stepping motor or motor driver you used

Thanks Marco, but do you think it is worth changing them.

Pete:
Why you want to change the motor, the 573S15 is a good 3 phase motor with 1.2degree. It is very smooth and with decent torque.
You can set the micro-step to 4000 or 5000 and I believe it is the best setting. Most manufactures in China are using the 573S series and with that micro-stetting.
How big of your machine and how old? Is it running on linear guide or on "Y wheel", just out of curious. Any pictures?

Re: Stepper motors
Hi Marco,
thanks for the reply, the machine is 3 years old and replaced the linear bearings and rails as they were worn out.
It is a 600 x 900mm cutting area machine, will take some pictures of it tomorrow.
Was originally a 60wt tube fitted to it, but have replaced it with a rici 80wt tube now.
Here are the specks on it, and a stock photo.
Product model JD4060 JD6090 JD90120
Max working area(mm) 400*600 600*900 900*1200
Laser power 60W/80W/100W/150W/180W
Engraving speed(mm/min) 0-75,000
Cutting speed(mm/min) 0-40,000
Minimum letter English: 1 x 1mm
Location precision ≤0.01mm
Resetting positioning accuracy 0.01mm
Power supply AC 220V/50Hz
Driving system Stepper
Cooling mode Water-cooling and protection system
Auxiliary Devices Exhauster and the Exhaust Pipe
Software Lasercut 5.3
Graphic format supported BMP, CIF, JPEG, TGA, TIFF, PLT, AI, DXF, DWG, etc.
Without DSP operating system, up and down work table
Cheers

Re: Stepper motors
With linear guide, the machine do very good straight line cutting. But it is a little slow on engraving due to the friction caused by the linear guide. "Y wheeler" is opposite. It give you high speed on engraving but lost the linearity for travelling long distance. Either way, need to clean the guide often with lubricant.
Overall, the machine should perform much better with upgrade from the Lasercut system to AWC608 or LO-X7
You may also want to replace the optics set because it is been over 3 years. It depends on how much work it has been doing. Don't get me wrong, no sales pushing here

Re: Stepper motors
Yes replaced the optics when I changed the tube, it had been cutting acrylic for 3 years so all needed doing.
Looking forward to changing the controller, as the software is lacking so much.
Thanks for all your help, and will be putting an order in next month.
Cheers
