who can explain what I am doing wrong using a USB stick

Post by waltfl »

Hi all
I got the new board from marco yesterday I set it up and everythings works fine sofar from the board site but the new LC 5.85 can not read the files what I have safed with the 5.77 version what did work with 5.83 ether the files dont show up at all in LC 5.85 or the message " a unexpected error ocurred"
the next thing is that I try the USB for the stick connection and there is the same probleme with any stick
if I put a stick in with the upgrade it shows up on the LCD display with the four files , if a click the upgrade file it works then it comes the message " upgrade error" but no job file works.
if I try another stick formated after marcos advice with FAT 32 and safed a few job files from LC 5.85 with the format pwg5 or ud5 to it but the LCD shows " NO Udisc" I can reload the files from this stick to the LC 5.85 and load it to the machine but not from a stick.
tha same happen with otther sticks
now can anybody tell me what is wrong . what do you guys do di anybody use the stick allready?
please let me know.
because the use of A usb STICK INSTEAD OF A COMPUTER is very importand to me.
Marco dont kill me!!

Give me a break Walt! This is a new card and as I mentioned to you, all issue have been addressed and fixed. Why would you did the upgrade patch on it?!

The card I sent you has been tested times and times with the memory stick "write" and "read".
Unless it's 64bit issue from your Windows7, I don't see any possible that the card I sent was bad.

hey marco
dont be offended1
I was the impression that the card works with the 64bit windows versions. I did not know because it was not mentioned that I dont need the patch but thats fine with me
next when the card sees the files on the stick why can i not safe job files from the card to it?? because the stick is formated with 32 bit FAT
thats exactly what I msaid that somebody tells me what I am doing wrong.
I dont say the card is bad its just something what does not work.
sorry my friend but thats what I have
greetings
walt

I'm not offensive to you but I'm totally frustrated! Total I sent you 3 cards since day1 and everytimes you complained that you couldn't write file from the main board to the memory stick. The firt 2 could be possible cause I ddin't test it my own. But the 3rd one, I tested it times and I found nothing wrong with it. But now it ended up the same issue.

Why don't you just send me your job files to me for testing. I'm not sure if you did't something on LaserCad that trigger some "unkonwn" issue. So far, I heard no complian from other customers possible 30 cards sold. But 3 of 3 you got the same problem, then I must say that it's not the card but your system issue.Or, as I mentioned, some issue on your work file

The card supposed to work on 64bit otherwise I won't post the driver for download. But I don't have Windows7 and I don't have 64bit OS for testing. That's whyI asked you to try it on XP. Also, when you did the format FAT32, are you doing it on WIndow7 64bit OS, or have you ever tried it ono XP 32bit formatting? It may or it may not be the issue.

Why not just go grap a memory stick from a local shop and try it brand new. I have no problem to provide support but I want you to do some baic troubleshooting at your side that way it help to elimiante a lot of unnecessary 'guessing' work on my side. I know the card isn't perfect and we're working hard on it. To be honest, I really don't think that it could be possible to receive 3 in a row bad board. Beat me if that is the case! The previous issue about USB memory stick wasn't write or read issue. It's just that file written to the memory stick couldn't be read correctly. But ti's different case as in your case, you couldn't 'write' at all and been fixed after the patch. Or at least the AC-608B addressed that issue

So, either you have a bad memory stick or it's 64bit issue. I'll double confirm with the programmer after he's back from vacation

okay my friend thats what I want that evrythings workes perfect.
I pulled out the oldest laptop who has windows XP on it and formated two sticks there put them in the card
select a file from the memory of the card where I know its working and selected safe to udisc the result was the same
the message came " no udisc"
nextmy new system shows :
system : AWC 608
Mainboard 7.11.12.17
LCD board 5.11.12.08
nowhere says AWC608B
even the print on the card itself says AWC 608

so I did pretty ,uch everythings what I could think off and what you have asked and still have the same probleme.
sorry I hoped it should be fixed but it isnt
you know if I had now three bad ones in a row would be nothing new to me just another time where " m,urphys law " catched me
greetings

The first time you write a file to a blank USB memory, it won't let you see the file. But once you hit "Reset" button, it will read the 1st one and any files afterward.

I receiver your returned board (2nd board) and tested it. The problem was that you didn't do upgrade to that as I asked you to do so that's why the card didn't write file properly to a memory stick. After the patch installed, I have no trouble to write and read. You said that the DSP couldn't read or couldn't 'save'. It's not true after patched installed.

I have no troble to retrieves all files currently saved on your DSP card that you returned to me. There are about about 46 of those files. I copied some of those to my memory stick and use the LCD to read and run it. It worked just like that!

If you still can't do save file or whatever on the memory stick. It's either your system or memory stick issue. Nothing to do with the card.

maybe it has something to do with the download I dont know.

Hi marco
OK I bought another new one and try to copy a file from the DSP over the LCD no computer attached.
and here are the picture from the steps.
now tell me something.
I did the trick what you have told last time press the reset botton that the stick was recognized.
the rest you see on the picture.
you need to change the location for the description on the picture atachement because it only comes out on top of the picture.
there is still the question open why you first said I need to upgrade the board,
then the next time you saaid why I did try to upgrade because the new boards dont need this even that the engenier said that all boards after 5.11. need the V2 patch,
and now you say again to upgrade!
tell me what is right now????
I believe many of this would never occured if we would have a real manual because there it should be described how to all the steps what need to be taken.
sorry my friend but I had to bring this out why I got the feeling that I be pretty much the only one who brings the stuff what does not work right up and many others just wait till it is brought up, I guess thats another probleme.
greetings
walt

You're totally lost here!!

I didn't ask you to upgrade your new card (the 3rd one I sent). I was talking about the board your just returned to me (the 2nd board!!). That board need either "111217v1.UG5" or "111217v2.UG5" to upgrade and I sent you the file per your request!
But you told me that it failed to read any file for the upgrade, right?

I did try the "v1.UG5" and it showed error. But when I tried "V2.UG5", the board upgraded in about 10seconds and done. Then I tried to do Read and Write again again, and again. Everything works the way it should be.

As I said so MANY times, there is never ever have "write" error happened to the DSP. I don't know what else you issue you may have, may be an allen signal blocking your system. I have no idea. By the way, did you attach the USB memory stick direct to the card or using an extension cable like pictures showen everytime you're doing 'Read/Write' Check the cable. Do some basic diagnostic.

I have done enough and I'm not going to spend time on this issue as I don't see a single complain not being able to safe files from the mainboard to the memory stick. Your case is totally excetpional and 3 boards in a row not being able to SAVE file. Plus, the 3rd card have been tested by me times and times for Read/Write before shipping. And 2nd card tested OK after upgrade patched applied.

My option here is: send it back for refund. It seems that there are too many problem to be used in your location. I surrended!

Hi marco
I don wana argue with you I just thoughd you also would be interested to find out whats happen it doesnt help if you can read and write because I try this too and I am not stupid but you seams to be not interested to find the real reason .
if you say that nobody else complains sure because how many have used a stick ( Ii belive none)
how many realy doing serious work for sure not many ether but you allready have seen here a few problemes from other people.
some of the problemes I reported was never cleared up for example that the DSP does not protect the laser tube with the system settings,
etc.
but it doesnt matter I still will report but I know now that I be on my own.
by the way I re-installed the lasercut version 5.82 and the probleme with reloading the older version job files is gone but now I can not open the files I safed with version 5.85 this shows me that there is a probleme with the two version that they dont recognize each others files. maybe I find the point at least I can now work with all my job files from before.
OH before I forgett
thanks for the refund
greetings
walt

Walt:

I'm very disappointed what you said here. I'm not interested to find the problem??
If I were not intterested, I won't spend days & days by testing at least 5 different cards! If I were not interested to solve the problem, I wouldn't do test before shipping the cart to you. If I were not interested, I won't checked the box your return. No body said that you're stupid. I tested two boards for you an found nothing wrong with the SAVE function. You have tried 3 boards and you still have the issue regardless. What did it tell you then? That mean something wrong with your OS, PC, or cable that I can't touch on my side. Dont' you get it??

I couldn't test everything right aways you made the claimed. You have complain so many things and so far I seem none. But I admitted that I haven't tested the currrent issue because I DON"T HAVE TIME FOR IT. Becuase I have to keep testing your issue, the memory stick! Did you think that it took me just a minute to test the memory card and make a claim on here: the card testing is OK. NO! I spend hours and hours to test. I saved files back and fro, re-draw images, recycle the LC times and times, switching LCD module, change Home postition, look at ground issue, format card again again., format memory stick again and again.... it all take times to do it! You though that I just snap the momory card and do one time Read/Write and then tell you that it's OK. Give me a break!
