2M415 DSP Configuration
I just upgraded my K40 machine with a 2012 DSP and I'm pretty happy with the result. I used 2 of the 2M415 stepper drivers which seem to be working well but have no documentation aside front he silk screen on there top. For the X and Y axis I wired the DC5V to OPTO, PUL to PUL and DIR to DIR and things seem to be working well. My question is in the DSP configuration should I do falling edge or rising edge for the axis config?

Re: 2M415 DSP Configuration
I don't have the 2012 model, but from the older model, I believe rising edge is preferred. However, if you find that x-swing engraving causes misaligned edges (also seen as "double-strike" characters), then you switch to the trailing edge. It all has to do with when the controller will start firing the laser in relationship to the pulses to the motors. It can through the Left-to-Right swing to position differently than the Left-to-Right by as much as a 1/2 mm. Different drives react differently, and that can cause the misalignment.Gadroc wrote:I just upgraded my K40 machine with a 2012 DSP and I'm pretty happy with the result. In short - if what you currently have is working to your satisfaction - don't change it! (It is hard to improve on success.)

Thanks Tim.

See the configuration diagram here: viewtopic.php?f=55&t=807
DSP______Driver
PUL........ PUL -
DIR........ DIR -
+5V........ PUL + and DIR +
By default is "falling edge"

Re: 2M415 DSP Configuration
Marco,
The 2M415 does not have a PUL+ and PUL- or DIR+ and DIR-. It only has a PUL, DIR and OPTO which I've hooked up like I said in the original post and that works. Just wasn't sure if this driver steps on falling or rising edge of the signal.
