What does "Relay control for spindle" really mean?

Post by MacEvelly »

I'm getting into making my own CNC machine and i'm looking at the 3 Axis CNC/ Laser Machine Stepping Motor Controller (TB6560)

I was wondering if "Relay control for spindle" means that the spindle is powered from the board or if it needs it's own separate power source that can be regulated by the board? (if so, how does that work?)

Here is the spindle i'm looking to use on the board.

It's a On/Off control for the spindle. There is no power supply build-in on the board for the spindle, you need to provide you own power for the spindle.

There are many kind of motor/spindle for CNC router, from a small one like what you shown on your link, to a high power 3KW water cool 3 phrase spindle that need VFD to drive. The relay energized and let the motor to spin to the constant speed before X,Y axis is moving. It's controlled by the G-Code, something like M0 and M1 or M?, I just forgot it.
