Rotary expects limit switch?

Post by typomaniac »

Hey,

i just finished my rotary adapter and made some tests which work fine so far. But there is one thing i cannot solve: I use the y axis for the rotary and after reset the system runs to 0,0 where x hits the limit switch and y switch is never engaged because of the attached rotary. I thought this should be disabled as soon as i enable »Rotate Engrave« in Lasercad? All i can do is hot switching after the reset is made or manually pushing the limit switch. This is no good solution because my engravings are always considered beyond work space.

My settings in dsp:
Rotate Fun: Close (what does this mean?)
Rotate Axis: X (what does this mean? Changing it does not change anything)
Pulse Count: 010000
Current Diamter: 100

My settings in Lasercad: Please see Screenshot.

Thanks a lot

I see no one has replied.

Yes it is one of the annoying little shortcomings of LaserCad.

What I do is deselect "XY axis home OnPower" when using the rotary.

I assume this still works. Programmers broke it once and I am now more reluctant to do updates when there is no changelog.

There are a lot of little annoyances but at least there are updates, and from what I see, not long after a bug is reported, a fix is available...
A version log would be very handy though.

Mentioned that quite a few times already... +1

I understood that making the U-axis available for rotational use is in the planning.. Just wait till someone discovers this. (as a log will probably never come..)

In LaserCad>Options>(system settings)>Manufacturer Parameters>Function Config (right-down menu, first option)

Are you guys sure about it? I don't mind to create one as I was thinking to create one similar "Tips of the day" for the DSP card

Marco ;)

Yes, Tips of the Day is good for giving tips and tricks like "Do not connect or disconnect the motor to driver while the driver is powered as it could damage the driver." but there should be a topic of What's in the Latest LaserCAD or LaserCAD Versions

I have 7.78B and so far I don't see any changes from 7.77 but if I find any I would like a place to post them for everyone to read.
For example, I don't cut a lot so if there is a fix for PPL I may not bother to upgrade and waste my time but if there is a change to use U for rotary, I will upgrade happlily.
