Expected lengh / Actual length > workspace dimensions wrong?
Hey,
i have a configuration question for the lo-x7. I regognized that all my lasered objects are too small. I made a rectangle and detected that they are exactly half the size they should be. I changed the um/pulse value from 25.375 to 12,6875 as suggested by the system. This resulted in the correct size for my rectangle. Unfortunately there is a new issue after that. It seems that the dimensions of the workspace do not work anymore. They are exactly the same but the gantry always runs into the hardware limit switch. What went wrong? If i drive the gantry to the upper right corner i can see on the display that the x and y position is half of the size which the machine should be. (700 / 400 instead of 1400 / 800).
Can you help me?
thank you
tm

If you have correct 'um' value calculated and a cutting size matched the size you specified on the LaserCad, it is not possible the laser not traveling in correct distance.
Something you may need to look at:
1) Is the machine running to HOME when power up? It has to because it need to know where is the (0,0). If not, make sure you put a check mark "XY home on power" under System option, manufacturer parameters setup
2) Did you set up Range of your XY stage properly? Once laser head touch the limit switches, that location is considered as machine 'zero' and the coordination is (0,0)

Hey Marco,
yes i made the calculation right but i set the driver to the wrong microstepping. What i described in my posting was what happened after i fixed that. The size of the objects is fine but not the work space.
1. Yes my machine is running home (bottem left) until the limit switches are arrived. The display shows the correct value (0,0) for home.
2. Yes i did. Please take a look at the attached images of the dsp. You can see the correct um values for my machine (which lead to the correct size in lasering) and the values for the dimension of the x and y axis.
The first image shows PX and PY as 632 and 408. This is when my gantry arrives the top right corner and about half of the dimension which is set under Range.
Thank you,
tm

Use LaserCad to read the parameters and post the screen shoot, please

Yes of course. Please take a look at the attached pictures.

I though you have the 'um' set to "126875 ". Picture is showing "25.375".
You need to make sure 'um' is correct before trying to change other parameters. Or in other words, make sure that the cutting size(actual) matched the expected size.

yes but this was because microstepping was not correct (i had 25.375 with 1/16 microstepping but i thought i had 1/8). Now it seems to be right. The calculated value with the right microstepping is 25.375. The lasered objects have the right size but the dsp does not show the right work space size (stillt half the size)
thanks

It is very strange. If you can't fix the issue, probably you may want to send it back to me for testing.

i have no idea, too. You already replaced one unit and although this issue keeps popping up i will try if i can live with it because shipping from germany is so expensive and customs is a real pain ....
