X7 Problem now with Video!

Post by s2jesse »

Here is a video showing my problems. As well as images showing current settings however i have tried a great many other settings as well.

Here is Link to the a Youtube video

Facts i think :)
- Wired correctly i believe
- Mechanically everything is pretty smooth. Checked belts etc.
- Ive even replaced stepper in x with a brand new one which handles 1amp current much better.
- Currently set to 1/16 microstep ive tried from 1 all the way to 1/32
- Ive tried a VERY WIDE array of settings slow and fast.

Observations
- Cut speed changes how large the test cut square is.
- Both X and Y will travel one way faster. It will change which direction that is randomly based on reboots.
- When cutting a test square or other objects the final Y leg seems to always go further.

Either I have made some silly mistake or i think there is something wrong with the x7.

Problems seem completely unrelated to the k40 and or hardware.

help :)))
Thanks
Jesse

First thing I would do is reroute your wiring.

In the pic you have high power stepper wires draped across low power signal wires

Get a little bit of physical separation

I'll try rising edge but im pretty sure ive already tried that.

I'll also reroute wires but I've had wires routed in multiple directions with identical results.

Anything else?

On user parameter, do the following:

Space_Jerk: 50,000
Cut_Jerk: 30,000

Min_Acc: 300
Key_Move: 100
RunBox_Speed:200

BTW, where did you get the "M425B" driver? Is it something like TB6560 driver board?
Also, did you calibrate the "um" value? If you did, then the size of a square cut should match the size you specified on the drawing. For example, if the drawing is 25mm x 25mm, you need to made a cut and measure the actual cutting size. Then, use the 'um' calculator to find out the optimal 'um' value. That should make the movement smoother and in right size.

The movement from the video was awful. It should sound very smooth if everything is normal. Something must wrong. Either a bad motor driver(s) or bad connection.

If the DSP is purchase within 30 days, you can send it back for diagnostic and if it is true that the problem is from the card, we will ship you a new replacement. We paid for the shipping regardless. If the card is purchase 30 days or after, if it is not defective, you pay for the return shipping cost. Of course if it is defective, we will send you a new replacement and we will pay for the return shipping cost

Oh..I remembered what driver it is. It is a new sample that capable to output 2.5A instead of 1.5A on M415. I was thinking to use it for our new mini XY stage that needs 2.2A to run.

I tested the drivers and it worked ok. The only issue was that it has a little more noise. Are you using our DC24V power supply? Check the voltage selection switch and make sure that it is set to AC 110V ( assuming you're on 110V)

Ok those settings did not help at all. Yes using the 24v supply and switched correcly. I also measured 24v with a multimeter as well.

Before i send back anything i have a gecko G540 i might try to hook up to the x7 first.

also im just using 608 as the password even tho its an x7. Im guessing thats fine and there is no actual x7 password.

I couldn't get it to drive my gecko at all so i hooked up the x7 to a scope.

I could barely barely see a pattern when jogging reading the pul pin. I did a clean setup with only the x7 and a clean 24v powersupply hooked up only.

Im not an electrical engineer and only know enough to be dangerous but this seems very noisy :)

Based on above do you think i should return or try anything else? I just hooked it all up to my computer with the gecko 540 and it runs VERY smoothly so i know the steppers are fine.

I can't find any info on your drives but:

is it possible that they need "step, direction and ground" rather than "step, direction and 5v"

I use drives that need that.

Having said that, by the looks of that scope signal, the AWC708 looks a bit sus.
