Can't reset origin and Reset button not working

Well, I got everything installed today (AWC608) and it was working great with engraving and cutting for about an hour... then I tried a picture that kept giving me a "Beyond Size Error". I was trying some of the recommendations in the FAQ and now I have a different problem I can't seem to figure out.

Series of events:

At first, when I turn on the machine, it goes to 0,0 (as it should) then it races off to the opposite corner (lower right) and crashes into the rails.

I then changed the ranges to 1200 and 900 and it stopped crashing into rails, but when at 0,0 (actual) it says it is at 600,450 and will not accept a reset when I push the reset button. Power off, power on and it does not reset. Nothing happens. When I try to use arrows to move, it goes for a bit, then says "Trigger Limit". So steppers and drivers seem to be working.

Any idea what is wrong? I have "Left_Up" set in all three places where it can be changes. I can make changes, but nothing "keeps" because I cannot hit reset. Edit: Some things do keep when I power off then on to do a hard reset.

Or... is there a way to do a "Factory Reset"? I have tried reformatting... but that didn't help. Oh, and I have tried all three "origin modes" with no differences. As a further clue, no matter what I change "Range" to in settings, display always says current position is half of what I set in "Range".

Okay... another odd thing. I hit Pause/Continue and it starts with the last completed job (that is no longer in memory, I reformatted) and seems to move normally. I can only stop it though, I still cannot reset.

Now when I power off then on again, it does not reset to origin, but it asks me "Powercut' Continue?"

Reformat again, and now memory is really empty and I do not get "Powercut' Continue?" but back to nothing happening.

Additional info: Loaded first image of a square (used to measure and correct cut to 100mm) and it will run it correctly. Goes to 0,0. cuts, then stops. But power off/on does not seek home again, and reset button still does not work. When off, I move head to some random location, and at power on, it just stays there.

Okay... reloaded last patch and things were the same, but reset button works. Went through all settings (many were the same, a few were different) and hit save, then reset.

Now all is working again. I think I just scrambled the memory trying to engrave that bitmap. Weird.
