Hey!
I ran into an issue with my new lo X7. The pulse units for my z axis is lower than 1 and there seems to be a problem with any value lower than 1 because it leads to no movement of the steppers. Is there any firmware update or other solution available?
thanks!

No it won't from what I heard from the programmer. Anything lower than 2 is unstable. You should change the micro-step setting on the motor driver to make um higher than "2"

Unfortunately this is a very common problem.typomaniac wrote:Hey!

The nature of Z axis or table height, is that very often, to do with the way it is typiclly geared, a value of less than 1 is needed for that axis step distance.
This has been raised as an issue many times in the past. As with lots of other 608 and 708, small annoying shortcomings, this will never be fixed. Just have to live with it.

oh man. How disappointing. But at least know i know ... thank you very much! This would be a good feature for future releases (together with an adjustable piezo... how annoying loud this is) ...
thank you and thanks for the solution with microstepping ...

You could (let) it tape it off.. Just a little piece of tape over the hole reduces the volume to an very acceptable level..typomaniac wrote:an adjustable piezo... how annoying loud this is ...

Usually it is not normal to have um less than 2. What micro stepping did you use for the Z axis? If you use 1/8 or 1/16, I don't see any case that um value is required less than <2.

Hey Marco,
oh i did not see that you replied. As you know i did not proceed because you had to repair my unit. Thank you very much. Now everything is wired and i am working on the z-axis. A higher value works but i still want to figure out the correct value ; ) I use 1/8 microstepping which gives me .330729166 micrometers/pulse ... (z table with 1/20 inch/thread screws)
