When trying to configure my home limit switches with the LO-X7 DSP I am having a problem of the DSP not recognizing the switches until they are activated 2 or 3 times. The DSP will finally beep and come out of reset if I toggle them manually. Of course since the DSP doesn't recognize it on the first instance I crash into the end stops. Has anyone had this problem? I'm probably not doing something correctly.
I've fiddled around with XY speed and tried all the various positive-negative settings in the manufacturers parameters to no avail. The x and y motors do move in the correct direction, they just don't stop when they hit the limits.
I do have the limits wired correctly, i.e. Normally open, close on contact.
Could someone help straighten me out on what I'm doing wrong
thanks
Dick

Re: Limit Switch Question
Have you tried the hardware limit setting in the manufacturing settings? I assume you have but you never know. also have you made sure they are 100% set in the terminal blocks, I had some that were not registering at all, and they were not making a contact in the green terminal.
I hope someone else can be more help.
Tim.

Re: Limit Switch Question
Hi Tim:
Thanks for the reply. I checked all the connections and I have tried checking and unchecking the hardware limits box. It didn't make any difference.
Regards,
Dick

Re: Limit Switch Question
Try isolating the problem down to the DSP controller, wiring, switch or stepper motor.
1: Connect pairs of wires to the DSP controller X and Y limit inputs. (Gnd and -ELY pair, Gnd and -ELX pair)
2: Verify that the wire insulation are stripped far enough so that it is not pinching in the terminal block (need good electrical connection)
3: Move the X/Y motors and manuallly short out the wires that was installed in step 1 to bypass limit switch
If it works ok in above steps, then you have problem with switch or the wires to the switch. Otherwise, problem is in DSP controller hardware or the settings in controller or problem in the stepper motor, driver hardware or driver settings.

Re: Limit Switch Question-Problem Solved
I solved the limit switch problem by swapping out a hybrid controller/stepper driver board with some 2M-415 drivers I ordered from Marco. Apparently there was some weird conflict with the board I was using.
Just hooking up the 2M-415 drivers to the LO-X7 controller straightened everything out and it behaves as expected.
Thanks to those who offered suggestions.
