Ready to upgrade to a new controller
But I have a few questions. I have a kern laser system that was manufactured in 2001 and runs with their proprietary software and controllers. From my research I'm starting to believe that the AWC608 is a good fit for my upgrade, but has any one else done this conversion?

Re: Ready to upgrade to a new controller
I've done a lot of homework on my own but my last question before I order is what kind of power supply do I need to purchase for the stepper motors? My current setup has the power supply in the same controller as the air assist. It's an antique, for sure.

Agent Sevan:
Without proving any information about your machine, we are not able to help. It is just like you want to buy a new engine to upgrade your car but you didn't provide any information about the car. By telling the brand "Kern" mean nothing here. Just like by telling your car is "Ford".
So, send us more information about your laser machine: motor specification, DC power supply, laser power supply, laser rating, and .... more info = better

Re: Ready to upgrade to a new controller
Ok. My table is a Kern 48"x48" mounted with two Universal 60 watt lasers powered by 2 DLS-48-20 by Iota power supplies.
It's pushed to and fro by Pacific Scientific stepper motors.
I don't expect anyone to walk me through this step by step because I may be the first person to change over from the proprietary Kern setup.
I have full confidence that your DSP controller will work great for my needs as long as I get a new power supply for the stepper motors. What other information do I need to shop for stepper motor power?

Re: Ready to upgrade to a new controller
Sorry the "info" you provided were far from enough to tell parts you need. You need to find out the specification of the stepping motors/motor drivers then get a proper power supply to drive it. You have the system on hand so you shouldn't have any difficult to find out power supply and the motor drivers specification.
