Laser not firing from controller

Post by lasernoob123 »

Hi,

I have a Redsail 50w laser and recently installed a new power supply after accidentally blowing up the old one. I have an issue of the laser controller not responding to testing the laser beam or giving the laser a layout to cut. All other functions work and the laser follows the path that I give it but does not engage the laser itself. The tube and powersupply are working fine because pressing the test button on the PSU engages the laser. Any ideas to what could be the issue? Is it a bad connection? We recently had to transport the laser from one facility to another which is when this issue started. It was occuring before the powersupply blew up (accidently switched the 110v/220v switch.) I've inspected the main board and cannot seem to find any broken or bad connections.

Thanks in advance!

Here's a picture of the main components if that helps.

You mean you switched the machine to AC220V that supposed to work on AC110V?
In that case, the first thing blew would be the power supply. Second things may blew would be cooling fan and the DC power supply.
You better check the DC output from the power supply (the board in the center of the picture, open case). Either 24V or 12V is required to power up the DSP controller card.

Everything else works on the laser. The DSP controller still is functioning and has a screen but I cannot get it to tell the laser to fire. I can tell the laser to move and to start a program but it does not fire the laser tube. The issue is still the same as before the power supply blew up.
