So, I don't understand why the U axis isn't used for rotary engraving. I am building a rotary attachment for my laser. My laser X and Y axis use 3 phase motors and controllers. My rotary attachment will use a bipolar stepper. It will be inconvenient to have to disconnect the Y driver from the DSP to plug in the rotary attachment. If we have an additional Axis - the U axis - why not use it for the rotary engraving. Did I miss something related to the use of the U axis? Is it possible to use it for rotary engraving?

Did you ever get an answer to this? I've had people asking about engraving glasses and the like.
