corelldraw compatability

Post by H.J.G. »

In regard to the AWC 608 dsp controller can it work directly from CorelDraw ver 15 i.e. as a page print rather than saving within CorelDraw and importing into Lasercad?

There is a "macro" VB module included with LaserCad. Once installed on a PC with CorelDraw that already installed, it will 'plan' a VB button on the CorelDraw tools bar. Once you done your drawing, click the button will send the exact job files to the LaserCad (comes with the DSP card) so that you can set the power, level, and other controlling

Thanks Marco, does this mean a cdr format file will work directly via the VB macro? Also is it possible to try the Lasercad software before purchasing the AWC 608 board to see if it meets my needs .
I realize this would only be a limited test since I would need the Hardware as well.

The LaserCAD software is just an input 'driver' for the DSP/hardware combo. It allows parameters like beam strength, step size and so on to be tweaked.
It is NOT a design tool and as a standalone can only generate a few simple shapes for testing purposes such as circles, squares, lines and simple text.
By itself it will tell you nothing. CorelDRAW is your design tool (or a couple of other similar programs), but not LaserCAD.

Actually having both the LaserCad software and CorelDraw both on the machine allows a person to learn and understand all the software, whether or not its hooked to the controller. I have always on any CNC machine had the capability to design on either the main desktop or laptop office computers and the one connected to the machine.

IF I could not do, then I would not purchase or own the machine.

So LaserCad 6.x will support Windows 7 and Corel Draw X6? My laser engraver will be here soon and I want to be ready to dump LaserCut and Leetro controller for LO DSP.

I'm currently using X6 on Win7. I tried it on Win8 and it worked just fine. Most issue I received from customer about Win7 or Win8 was about the 64bit driver. If you forgot to install the driver, the DSP won't be able to talk to the system
Or, in some odd case, some button may show Chinese characters even though English version was installed. That was usually caused by the strong security system or backup system by the Win7 or Win8. Beside those little issue, I don't see any major problem so far because I'm using it every day
