X_swing misalignment is causing zipper effect

Post by tbirdglenn »

The point at which the laser fires while moving from left to right does not line up with the same point while moving from right to left. This causes the vertical line of text characters to look like a zipper effect. That causes the characters to be twice as wide with jagged edges and the space between characters to be twice as narrow.

I’ve tried changing every feature in both the manufacture and user settings (read, change, save, and reset each time) and nothing changes the vertical alignment of the x_swing. I even tried changing the motor, but used the same gear and belt because I don’t have a different size or pitch to try. I built this 100 watt machine and wondering if the drive gear diameter and belt pitch is critical to the x_swing calibration?

I also tried adjusting the focus above and below the sweet spot to no avail. I even tried going back to an older version of the os and no change.

What should I try next? I lay awake nights wondering if I should buy a different gear and belt.

Greolt . . . You da man! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

It is now dead on perfect. Such a simple solution to such a hair pulling frustration.

Wish there was a way I could repay you.
