xle 900 question

Post by intelinc »

Hi Marco,

I am in the process of putting together the 900x600 xle XY stage. From what I can tell from the Corel Draw file (I can only open the version 9 file, so I'm not sure what's in the file labeled "XY2MX4M_TubeRiding_TP.cdr") there should be two 6mm holes in the bottom of each end of the 1155mm lower X beams. It appears that these eight holes should be used to attach the XY stage to the aluminum extrusions of the frame. One of my lower X beams does not have any 6mm holes in either end. I have attached two photos of what one end of this beam looks like. Is the CDR incorrect, is there possibly something wrong with one of my two lower X frame members, or am I just missing something here? Any insights appreciated. Thanks.

Ryan

Hello Ryan

So sorry about. I think the tooling company oversight the bar you have and not making threaded holes.
Do me a favor, tell me the size of that bar and let me check if I have spare here. I need full dimension so I can find you one.

Thanks for the quick reply Marco.

This is one of the two bottom 1155mm X beams. There are two of these in the schematic, and one of the two that I have has no mounting holes. I believe it is the beam that is used to mount the motor that drives the Y axis gantry. I have attached your schematic with the beam in question highlighted.

Sorry I don't have the parts for 960. I need you to send me the two bars to me and I will have to drill those holes. I will pay for both shipping cost and $30 store credit for any inconvenience that may caused

Or, I can offer $75 credit if you can do it on your own

Thanks Marco. Before I send anything back, I want to make sure that everything else is copacetic on the machining of the gantry beams. Which leads me to my next issue: I believe one of the bottom Y beams is missing threads for the top Y rail mount holes. There are two holes at each corner of the 730mm lower beams. It looks like these are there to mount the upper Y rails. 6 out of 8 of these holes are threaded; 2 are not. I can't tell from the schematic if this is supposed to be the case or not, but I'm guessing they are missing threads. Can you corroborate? I've attached a detail image of these two holes. Thanks.

It could be missing threads, but I'm not 100% sure untill I have it to compare with others.
You may send both bars back to me and I will drill holes and thread it

Shipping shouldn't take long from Bay Area, it should arrive in two days by either USPS or UPS Ground.
During this time, you may work on your frame and other parts

Hi Marco,

I'm happy to add threads on my end, but It sounds like the best bet is to send both back to be safe.
