Please help!!! i have recently purchased the DSP upgrade kit for D/K40 small machine, i have downloaded and read the manual which i was directed to but its missing heaps of info, please note i am a novice at this so please be patient with me, i have installed the home switches and understand the microstep drivers wiring except for were the power comes from ie: red n black wires in the pic from the downloaded manual. also there is no description of how the power supply is connected to any of it. also can anyone tell me what type of power supply i have. any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated (please use lamens terms as im not up on the lingo)

HI
instead of the PSU in your pictures you will need a PWM power supply to power the laser and a 24 volt power supply , (Lightobject sell these)
Here's a drawing I have knocked up with my connections...
PLEASE be aware I have tried not to make any mistakes but I am "only just" human so the final responsibility for doing it right HAS to be yours!
Wishing you a smoke free installation

Hi 1n2
Yes ive put the link across the wp and g, i found another forum were marco suggested a way to fire the laser directly from the laser psu but still it wont fire. i removed the cover from the laser psu to find some small bits of plastic that seem to have come from the heat sink so not sure if its just a faulty psu or not

Re: Help with installing K40 Dsp Upgrade Kit
To docwiz , the power supply is totally dead because the power transistor blew! It seems that you have the HV unconnected and the high voltage feedback to the board and killed the PS

Re: Help with installing K40 Dsp Upgrade Kit
All cables and connections are connected as per the wiring digram I was supplied with from Marco, that is a brand new laser power supply and the compete dsp upgrade set. I triple checked all connections and had a friend check them also. The unit is grounded through the mains and by earth cable that runs to a copper stake outside, the laser tube connections are calmed on for maximum connectivity, would love to know what has happened as I obviously need a new laser psu and don't want a repeat of whatever has happened. Not happy

Re: Help with installing K40 Dsp Upgrade Kit
Tristan, FYI, for US domestic customer, we do preliminary power up test before ship. But for all International order, we do fire up test on a laser tube before ship.
Again, the power of your machine blew completely. Also, when you said that the LaserCad acted strange when started cutting or engraving, I think most likely that it was damaged by high feedback current from poor connection or shorted circuit somewhere. The other possibility is that the AC110V was selected. AU is running on AC240V so if AC110V is selected, it will blow the PSU
When you ordered another, we will test it again for you.
