Laser fired causes "reset"

We have had this problem sporadic on both our machines. When the laser fires, either at the beginning of a program or if the "Laser" button is pressed, the controller lcd goes blank and shortly after displays "Waiting..". We have lived with the problem, but now one of the lasers does it every time "Laser" is hit, making it quite difficult to do mirror alignment.

Both the PSU for the controller and for the laser has a EMC filter on the power lines.

Suspecting that inducted noise is causing the problem, we tried to:

Run thick grounding wires from the EMC's, DSP cabinet and frame to a starpoint, together with the incoming grounding wire.
Removed the HV + laser tube ground wires from all other wires.

I have to questions:
Is there a way to classify the problem, e.g. messuring with a scope?
Is there a easy solution (or for that matter, a difficult one)?

It is Grounding issue when you see a "blank screen" and come back "Waiting..."
You can verify it by disable the Laser Power supply and try run the job file. It should work just fine without laser

Make sure you have a good grounding on all power supply, case, DSP unit to a 'real' ground.

Everything is grounded proper grounded. Could it be a defective laser PSU.

Also, is it noise on the power line or the control line that causes the DSP to go blank?

Turned out it was the cooler that wasnt ground, causing the alarm cable from the laser to arc. Quite a bit of voltage difference there.

So, remember to avoid plugging the cooler directly into the laser, but instead use a decent cable with a proper earth connection.

Your laser machine should always be plugged to a dedicated, properly grounded line, alone. If you have multiple lasers, have multiple terminals directly from your main circuit box. I fried my gravograph's mainboard because it was plugged along many other machines.
