Hi everyone,
I've completed my DSP upgrade to the K40 but am having troubles the first time I turn it on.
Upon powering up the x-axis motor takes the laser head all the way to the left and repeatedly keeps hitting the limit switch, meanwhile the y-axis doesn't move. ANY ideas on what is going on here? I'm 99% sure I've got it wired correctly although I will of course be triple checking tomorrow.
EDIT: Looking back at wiring - the "wiring diagram" (LaserMachineWiringDiagram2.jpg) from Marco/the board doesn't show any power going to the X stepper driver but it does to the Y stepper driver. In the "how to" guide "K40_ConversionB.pdf" I noticed that power is supplied to both drivers. Also the diagram lists the settings for each driver the same but the conversion guide says Y axis is different. Which one is correct? I wired mine according to wiring diagram.

All drivers need their own power. You should see power lights when they're powered (for most drivers). Double check that you have the bare copper cinched in the Phoenix connectors and not the jacket. I had that problem myself on my z table. Use the continuity test on your multi-meter, testing continuity between the screw heads at each end of the connection to verify. Do triple check that your connections are correct. Also, make sure you've roughed-in your LaserCad um value.

Thank you. It ended up being my X/Y drivers were connected in reverse to the DSP. That and once I switched them I had to run power to other other stepper driver - the wiring diagram didn't have any power to it.
The 6.5 um is pretty close - I need to do the calculation here this weekend...

I had both problems too. I connected a 24vdc power outlet on the DSP to one motor, then a 24vdc on the DSP's PSU to the other motor.
The limit switch was wired as negative but configured as positive in lasercad, I changed the wiring (although changing the configuration in lasercad would have been easier
)
