So I'm updating my firmware for the first time...
How long does it take usually? I'm sitting at about 40 minutes waiting with it still saying "upgrading". This normal?

No. Less than 30 seconds

Re: Firmware Updating
It doesn't want to take to updating...
I hit reset and it went back to being fine. Now it will wildly change the power level. 40% is now between 25-35mA. So I went and manually changed the PWM frequency to 45000 so it wouldn't be so high and sensitive but it's bouncing everywhere. Even at that insane mA level, it won't even cut through paper.
This suddenly happened between me swapping a file from a paper cut file to a wood cut file. So I've been trying to upgrade since....
Edit: K, tried a FAT 32 instead of a FAT USB and it upgraded....now I'm still trying to figure out why I have so little power. Ugh.
K, not enough power is fixed. Now I need to figure out why the DSP is so flaky with shoving so many amps down the tube...

Re: Firmware Updating
There is something very flaky with the power level now.
I've fixed everything else, newest LaserCAD + Firmware. My default PWM settings didn't change anything, they were set for 35000 frequency and were forcing the tube to fire at 55mA!~
This is killing me Marco...new tube, new power supply...I still can't do my orders to catch up.
No use...went back to 6.71, didn't make a difference. Change the frequencies all between 20,000 and 190,000 and I can't run it at any decent level of percentage. Could there be a chance that the power supply you sent me had a faulty PWM in?
Edit: Ok so I've switched to manual power control...old volt meter and the whole shabang. I have exactly 0.20V of 'maneuvering' with the power level.
0.70 won't even fire the laser and 1.00 volts is pushing past 19mA. Back with the older power supply in manual mode, you could go 0.8V to 4.6V. I think there is something wrong....something very wrong with this PSU. Should I send both back? (the original defective one and this new one?) This tiny lee-way will let me finish a small handful of projects that are super high priority. After this weekend I could tear it all back down again if need be.

Re: Firmware Updating
Not sure how you could get 55mA even a 180W supply could output 38mA max. You better check your connection or fine tuned the current meter. I doubt that it could output so much current. The max current for a 40W is 23~23mA. The frequency should be set to 25,000Hz by default.
Regarding the upgrade: The USB memory stick MUST be in FAT32 in order to read properly. It clearly mentioned on the manual.
It is NOTHING to do with the LaserCad v6.71 or v6.88. It is the OS you got in trouble. Just run OS downgrade see if it fix the issue. Then upgrade the OS again. I don't have any issue with my upgrade of three machines here in the demo room.
Before upgrade, make sure to save you configuration file using Import/Export feature. I guess most of you folks not even bother to do it. Remember that once OS is upgraded, it may or it may not change the parameters setting.

Re: Firmware Updating
The reformating of the firmware from new to old to new solved the PWM issue.
Sorry for the erratic nuttiness.
That solved everything...
