Corel Draw and other software questions

Post by jarbon »

So, while I'm waiting on parts to arrive I thought I'd look into the software side of this project.

It appears from my reading that I can use Corel Draw to create my images. Just a few questions concerning this.
  • What is the work flow that would take place from concept to cutting? ie: Corel Draw -> laserCad -> cutting?
  • What file types or conversions/"Save as" are required for each step of the process?
  • I believe that I read somewhere that there is a Corel plug in for the DSP, or something like it that is required?
  • Does the DSP do vector AND raster cutting? And can you create both in Corel or some other software?
  • What is the process of vector cutting? (this will be my primary cutting at the start)
  • Up to what version of Corel Draw is supported? (I'm looking at purchasing a copy of Corel Draw, and X6 is the latest)
I'm new at this, so I sure do appreciate any help and direction offered.

I got looking around and found this CAD software, DraftSight (http://www.3ds.com/products-services/dr ... /features/)

Has anyone used it?

Draftsite is a nice CAD package. I use AutoCAD/Inventor at my real job, Draftsite at home.

Easy to use/learn. For me, it didn't take long to figure out the commands, VERY similar to AutoCAD.

Thanks, Jim.

What about the other questions in the original post? Do you have any info on those?

John:

I sent you a copy of AWC608 DSP manual and connection diagram through email for your review. After that, you should be understand more or less about what the card is capable of doing. However, there are a few new features haven't mentioned on the manual like PPI, multiple pass cutting or engraving, LED light panel .... Beside that, it should cover most thing you were questioning about

I'm still trying to figure out how Corel works... I currently fumble through it to work on projects...would be nice to have some kind of tutorials on the specific ways of using CorelDraw with DSP...that seems to be a mystery around here.
