Reconnecting Wires After Upgrades?

Post by jgecik »

Hello!

After buying just about everything in the store that has anything to do with the K40 machine and getting it all set up inside the machine's shell, I find I'm having a small bit of trouble with wiring the DC connection that plugs into the wall into the wiring system inside the machine. Having already rewired a DSP card and new controllers and a new laser PSU successfully before taking the machine apart to upgrade to an adjustable Z table, this is pretty embarrassing!

Specifically, what I would like to know is how the wires are set up running from the plug connection, to the green connector block (pictured below) to the on/off switch, and to the 24v PSU. A simple written instruction letting me know which wires go into which slots on the connector block and where they plug into the 24v PSU would be fantastic.

It was explained at this post, but I'm still a bit confused. I'm really not interested in frying my laser cutter, after all!

The wiring diagram works very well, but it doesn't explain how to wire in outside power, the exhaust fan in the electronics section of the shell or an on/off switch. If I can get a written instruction and get the cutter working, I'll be more than happy to update the wiring diagram myself.

Also, does the adjustable Z table stepper motor controller require the extra power inputs like the Y stepper motor controller?

A million thanks,

I am hung up at this same stage. For some reason I have a mental block.

hi there
first I have not seen such connector block, but here is how I wired all the machines.
from the AC 240V the black wire goes to the main switch from there to the AC terminal of the 24V and the PSU
the white wire ( or second wire ) goes directly to the 240V terminal of the 24V and PSU.
the ground wire comes from the back of the machine to the main 240V inlet and to the ground connector on the 24V and PSU, nowhere else.
the black or blue wire from the PSU goes to the mA meter and from there to the second connector of the lasertube ( there where the beam output is)
the driver for the Z-table motor needs the same power input as the X and Y driver.
greetings
waltfl

That piece of green board is just a power "splitter". It split AC to laser power supply and the DC power supply that came with the original K40 machine. You don't have to keep it but it is no harm to keep it. You may still use it to split AC power for the same purpose.

That's what I figured, but waste not, want not, right? Can I just wire it in by soldering the wires together or would it be a bit safer to make a small circuit board and solder the wires into that?

Really not a big deal. You can do soldering or you can keep the board. It is up to you to use it or not.

Splitter Block to send power to both Laser PSU and 24VPSU is this correct by using the splitter that came with the original
