I posted this I/O information earlier perhaps this will help you.
As part of my laser build / DSP installation I looked into the output functions of the AWC608. Although the manual attempts to explain the functions...it was a little sketchy for me.
Here's what I discovered:
Output #1: This pin is activates when you press the start button. It stays active until cutting is complete or the stop button is pressed.
Output #2: Not sure how this pin is used....it is activated in a variety of ways.
- pressing the "laser" button on the control panel activates the output, releasing the button turns it off.
- pressing the "light" button on the control screen activates the output, releasing the button turns it off.
- running "clip box" turns on the output, it turns off when the move is complete.
- The output turns on while running a program, but only when the laser is cutting....it turns off during rapid moves between cuts.
- this output does not turn on when you press "box" on the control panel.
- this output does not turn on when you press "run box" on the control screen.
Output #3 - Never activates, appears to be unused.
Output #4 - Never activates, appears to be unused.

Out1. It is ON when XY is moving. It is good for turning ON air-pump trigger
Out2. It is ON only when laser if fire
Out3 & Out3 are reserved for future expansion. Currently is not connected
Remember that I used Out2 for the counter? It will count the true usage of a laser tube. By the way, I ordered counter in BLUE color and in DC12~24V. I'll post the item for sale later

ok outp.#2 that's fine but what voltage is used from the DSP here does it switch with 24V???
I wana use a output for the air assist because my experience is only when cutting the air assist should be used
is there any way to integrate such a output maybe on one of the unused ones and where the switched voltage is the full 24V?

If you want to use output 2 for air assist, you might want to consider putting in a relay with a delayed shut off. With a delayed shut off the relays contact wont open close very fast causing wear to the relay and any motors attached.
I'm thinking 4 seconds for the delay if you have a large machine.

no it does not solve the problem . like explained the air assist should only come on when cutting, because if it is running during engraving especially acryl it will mess up the engraving even with wood it blows the dust right in to the engraving and sometimes it is impossible to clean this out.

Yes, the output from the DSP is 24V. Didn't I mention that I have imported some relay breakout that works excellence for the DSP I/O!

I know from your post with the timer that this works perfect for the timer, but what I mean is to have a possibility to turn the air assist on only when cutting not all the time when the laser is firing.

Let me post it one more time here:
Out1 will output signal ONCE XY in motion
Out2 will output signal ONLY laser is fired
That's why you use Out1 to control Air-pump as you can't have the pump runs instantly when laser is fire. You need it ON before laser is firing.
You will use Out2 for counting true usage of a laser tube because it output signal ONLY when laser is firing

how I mean this is selecting in lasercad on the cutting selection, the same way like selecting the PPI, another output for the air assist which is only on when laser cutting and off when engraving.

Sorry if I acted impatience. I was totally confused what you're trying to do. Remember that air-assisted is not only to boost cutting power during cutting but it help to clean the lens from the smoke. I found no reason to turn it off during engraving as it generate smoke as well. If you have air Off, the smoke sooner or laser will ruins the focus lens and need to be cleaned. Our goal is to add more feature but try to avod putting too much burden on the DSP card. The resources from the DSP is very limited especailly down to the I/O control.
I have the capbility to make some change with help from the programmer but each time to ask a change, I have to try really hard to communicate with the programmer (Li). Only if the feature is popular and benifical to most user, otherwise he will not consider it. He will ask me to proof "Why need it". You see my point? Other features like "Imperaial sytem", Printer Driver, Z table issue, multiple pass ..... are all more important and he is either working on it or have some completed.
But please don't get me wrong. If you have other good advise and suggestion, I'd to get your input. The PPI, multiple pass... are all results from you guys input. WIthout feedback from you guys, the card won't be better!

I have a solution for you walt,
Maybe a bit old style but you can try to add air flow regulator with gauge and for engraving you can minimize air flow (enough to keep the lens clean.)

in my case my exhaust is so strong that I don't have a problem with regular smoke it pulls it out right a way.
that's why I asked for it.

I know this and have it on my compressor but just imaging I do about 30 pieces over 6 hours all with engraving and cutting, I would not come out from adjusting and the regulator would not last long.
