Control Panel Buttons not Responding
Hi Marco and fellow laser builders,
Recent some of the buttons on my control panel stopped working. Specifically the laser/box/start/exit buttons stop responding to key presses. I can only use the soft buttons on my computer to access these functions. Has anyone had this problem before? Is there a quick fix or do I need a new panel?
Thanks,
David

The template is partly defect if press it too hard and too long. I may have blue template available for $4.5 a piece
S/H: $3
What you need to do is to tear the old template out from the LCD unit and put the new one on. Very simple
Paypal: Paycoldfusionx@lightobject.com

Re: Control Panel Buttons not Responding
Hi Marco,
Do I just tear off the old one and stick the new one on??? What about electrical connections? Can you post a picture of the "template" so I can wrap my head around how this would be done?
As I am in a production environment, I'd like to order two. Could I get my hands on one of those new hand held units as my machine is quite big and it would be so much more convenient. If not, do you have an approximate date?
Thanks,
David

Yes. There is a 'ribbon' cable for the connection. Just snap it back to the plug will take care it
I have blue template only. Let me check if I have two left

Re: Control Panel Buttons not Responding
Hi Marco,
Thank you for the reply. I would like to get faster shipping due to the fact that I'm in Taiwan and using the soft keys in Lasercad is a real pain in the but.
What I'd really like to get my hands on is that nifty new hand held panel. Can you give me a time estimate on when that will become available. I know you are still testing but a general time frame would be really appreciated if you can.
Never the less I'm ready to move on that template. Please give me a total amount on two if you have it and express shipping 5-7 days service and I'll Paypal you right away.
Thank you,
David

Re: Control Panel Buttons not Responding
Hi Marco,
I've been really busy the last few days. I'd like to add a beam expander to my setup. I'm running a 120 watt glass tube laser. The beam diameter is about 6-7 mm. I'd like to get a suitable expander (I'm guessing 1.5x would work nicely with my optics setup. I'd like to get the expander and also a mount for fine tuning the position of the expander. Can you give me a quote on those items? If you are sending me that template, I might as well pick up the other items as well.
Please advise.
Thanks,
David
P.S. Can you post some pics of a beam expander setup from some of your machines or any for that matter as I can't find any pictures of these things installed in any machine except for machines that are in the 500 watt + range and those setups use very large diameter lenses and they are integrated into the laser unit making it hard to see exactly what is going on. Thanks!

Re: Control Panel Buttons not Responding
Sure I can do it. Just leave a note after purchase
I haven't used the beam expander myself. What you need to do is to line up with the light beam, better after the laser tube. Some may do it after the first reflection mirror. The beam expander comes with no mount but I can image that one could use the machine to cut a mount for the expander using acrylic. It is simple and easy
To choose the size of beam expander, you need to pay attention to couple things:
1) the size of the beam expander; 1.5x, 2.0x, 2.5x, and 3.0x
2) the diameter of the beam expander for both input and output; 10mm, 14.5mm
3) the size of reflection mirror. note that the usable diameter is "Size * .7.07". Ex. 25mm Si = 17.6mm
4) the size of intake hole on the laser head 15mm, 16mm, 18mm or 20mm
5) the size of the focus lens

Re: Control Panel Buttons not Responding
Hi Marco or and fellow experimenters,
I've been looking at the selection of beam expanders and have settled on item LSR-BEXP15X1219 which is a 1.5x expander rated for up to 150w tube which should be perfect for my application. I have a final question before pulling the trigger on this.
Let's say my beam travel is about 2.7 meters at the furthest extreme. My laser head has an opening of 27 mm to receive the beam. The mirror is 38mm with 25mm focus lens. Now assuming I place the 1.5x expander about 3cm from the output side of my tube with a beam that is about 6-7 mm in diameter, that means I should get a beam coming out of the expander that is 9-10.5 mm, right? From there, it hits two 25mm Mirrors before entering the laser head. In theory, after the beam expander, I should continue to get a 9-10.5mm beam through the entire range of travel for my laser head with much less divergence than I'm getting right now, right?
Thanks,
David
BTW: I've been eyeing your 1800 x 1200 stage for some time now. I'm waiting for verification that a raster scan of at least 800mm/second can be reliably achieved.

Re: Control Panel Buttons not Responding
Better to post it with different subject. It is off the original subject you're requesting
Anyway, you're absolutely fine in this case with 1.5X beam expander. Even with 2.0X is still good assuming you're using the same tube 6~7mm diameter.
I believe you're having a 60~80W tube as a 100W tube should have 8~9mm diameter while a 120W should have 9~10mm beam diameter
Remember that each mirror mount will take up 1mm space on each side. If it is a 25mm reflection mirror, the actual usable area is (25mm-2mm)* 0.707 = 16.2mm
For 38mm reflection mirror, the useable area (diameter) is: (38-2) * 0.707 = 25.4mm

Hi Marco,
Can you please send me that paypal invoice for the 1.5x expander and template with express shipping please. I know you are super busy, but I would like to pay you to get these items. I'm very busy also and it seems we are constantly missing each other.
Or could you tell me how much and I'll paypal you as I know know how much is the two items are as the template isn't listed on your web store so I can't add it to the order. It would be much easier if you just send me a paypal invoice covering the template (or new hand held controller), expander, and express shipping.
Thank you and waiting for your response.

David:
I did send you the price for the template but really got no response from you for long long time.... It's hard for me to do follow up your question in a month or two after and get back to you sson. I though you no longer interested it anymore.
Price of the 1.5x listed on the website and shipping can be found by putting items in the basket and use the postage calculator to check the postage. Then you can send me the paypal payment and the Paypal was addressed from my previous post. I was in China and I couldn't access Interent easy and accessing to this forum couldn't be easy.
By the way, you need to make a purchase online for the 1.5x beam expander. Then send a separate payment for the template. Otherwise, we won't be able to keep track of your record
Regards,
Marco

Re: Control Panel Buttons not Responding
Hi Marco,
I just tried to purchase the 1.5 expander and couldn't get a shipping amount through the online market place. I choose "Paypal" as payment method and then it took me to shipping. I select Taiwan and the shipping amount is shows $0.00. Is the shipping free for this item? I have two choices when picking shipping. One is "buyer pickup" and one is "Buyer UPS Account" which I don't have. No matter what I pick, the shipping amount is still $0.00. Please Advise.
Like proposed earlier, can you just send me a Paypal invoice all inclusive and I just paypal you and you manually update your records?
Thanks,
David
