Laser fires with DSP wired to TH fails wired to TL !SOLVED!

Post by ivantandy »

Laser fires with DSP wired to TH / when wired to TL laser does not fire. [WP is shorted] Chassis grounded to earth. AWC608 upgraded to v.7 cannot up to v.8
SOLVEDPROBLEM: Cannot use TL to fire laser from Laser button on Interface or Run File or from PC. TTL to TL; laser will NOT fire : TTL to TH; laser will fire.

I did alter the trim pot on the 24V DC power supply - will this affect the the DSP low power output (could it drop below 20% power?)

When wired from DSP AWC608 as TTL to TH the laser tube will fire from button on Interface and Red LED indicator on laser PSU functions bright. Appears to be dimly alight when AC power is ON.

On AC110 PSU the TTL light will turn on and laser will fire when button on PSU is pressed. The button will not activate the laser when DSP is connected TTL to TL and the TL light on the PSU does not turn on.

When DSP is wired to TL the button on LASER PSU does not fire laser. The PSU laser button will fire ONLY when the AWC608 DSP is disconnected from AC110 Laser PSU.

Tested alternate output on DSP: Laser does not fire when G TL IN connected to Laser2 GND TTL PWM on DSP AWC608

The results remain the same when I change Max/min laser power( 50%) (50%) to (70%) (20%) on the Interface.

DSP AWC608: When switched on I see LED lights (red) at USB, PWR and limit connections. Is there an LED to indicate TTL/PWM is functioning?

Re: Laser fires with DSP wired to TH fails wired to TL !SOLV

SOLVED!
1. Reset the 24V DC power supply trim pot to default middle (this is how it shipped)
1b. I saw no difference in the brightness of the red LED on AC110 Power Supply i.e laser power supply as I played with the trim pot settings / at fully clockwise the laser tube would not fire from button on laser power supply
2. Formatted file memory on DSP
3. Connected Lasercut software program via USB- Read / Save with default data from Manual
esp. laser max power setting back to 72... in testing I had 98 (this is probably unrelated) Resaved to use low power.

4. Test from Laser button on Interface = success: Original k40 laser tube fires on TL Ran box file / test OK.

This was just a Hail Mary! Hunter S. Gonzo kind of approach- anyone with a better idea of exactly the prob with power settings and TL please weigh in.
