Job start point

Post by Axeman »

I've finally got the DSP up and running now...

Since I'm coming from setups like Mach 3 and LinuxCNC, I'm used to G-code based files. In those, I would pick a start point on my cutting surface, load my g-code then load my workpath from that point and I carry on.

I'm having a really hard time finding how to do this with the DSP. Rarely do my jobs start from the 'bottom left' corner of my cutting table so that's why I'm having trouble. I've been searching up and down on the forum to see a way to do this and I can't get it to stick. This DSP software isn't terribly user friendly for former G-code users.

I've also searched & read the manual. I'm just not finding it.

If i draw a square and drop it in the bottom left corner of my 'board' in LaserCad, I am thinking that will be my origin point for the cutting jobs start. Now I just need to get the DSP to start where I move the head from that point.

hi axman
I am not quite sure what you mean, but one way to define the starting point ( origin) is to bring the head to this point manually with the display arrows and then push the ORIGIN button on the display.
the other way is select in the display menu " software" then you can set the starting point in lasercad

Thanks walt, I was trying to set my origin via software and not hardware.

I switched to hardware, works way better now. Although I do get a weird error once in a while where the job runs but the laser won't fire. Not sure why that is yet...will try to solve that today.

I switched from TH to TL so now my momentary laser button works properly.

But my laser still doesn't want to fire for the jobs. Just "clip box".

So odd...

 I had my power too low. Apparently 10% doesn't even fire..had to up it to 20%.

Better now.
