Odd crashes

Post by twosoc »

Hey all, I'm experiencing some odd crashes every now and then. It happens when opening a file and either gives me a C++ runtime error or just crashes to the desktop. I've downloaded the latest lasercad and its doesn't help. It only happens sometimes when I've exported a corel 12 file to dxf format, saved in R14. It doesn't happen every time, nor does it happen to to the same file before its worked on, e.g. at the start of a drawing, but sometimes does at the end product.

What file size can lasercad handle? I wondered if it was getting too big. The most recent one was only 820kb. I can work around the problem by exporting as a plotter file, but it sometimes misses lines and they have to be added in, which is a pain. The memory stick isn't corrupt as I've tried it on another a with the same result, plus I've tried it on the machine that I design on, (not in the workshop) saved to the hard disk and it does the same.

Any one any ideas? I've tried everything I can think of like changing the file name and resaving, re exporting but nothing seems to work.

Hi there
did you reformat the memory, because sometimes the memory is not completly empty and hold some old info ( comands or part).
I can use file sizes up to 6Mb but I allways format the memory for bigger files.
why dont you import the safed DXF files directly to lasercut?
greetings
walt

Hey Walt, do you mean the memory on the memory stick or the laser itself? It doesn't even get chance to get to the laser.
Not too sure what you meant by importing it straight to lasercut. I don't have lasercut, just the laser cad that came with the dsp. But if thats what you meant I design them in the office in the warm, then put them on a memory stick to take to the workshop, to load it up and fire away. :)

the weird thing is is doesn't always do it.

Hi
I mean the memory in the DSP.the software what came with the DSP is lasercut 5.95 if you allways just use the stick to transfer then this is a bit different. the procedure should be as follow :
import your file in to the lasercut programm, the file should not have any groups at all you need to ungroup all
from lasercut download to U stick
then upload with display on machine menue.
did you try a different USB stick???
did you give the file a different name every time??
I would first format the memeory in the machine from the display menue
make sure that the file is completly ungrouped
import the DXF file in lasercut and then safe it in the download menue to the U stick
I hope this helps
greetings
walt
