Need help on converting K40 machine to DSP

Post by pannaus »

Guys, I've ready a few topics here, but we are having quite a hard time to understand where to put the cables from the old motherboard to the DSP one. The diagram says, input, output and so on, but what about test switch? laser switch and all that stuff? It's not clear since the cables are named one way on the diagram and another way on the old machine.

Is there a tutorial?
Thanks!

Marco...please, this is urgent. The reference you put on this site is for stepper motor controllers a little different. Also, the pics you put in a thread about the conversion are of another engraving controller.

Any help?
ANyone?
please.

Manual and connection: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=938

Regardless which DSP or driver you have, the connection is pretty in generic and quite standard
Here are major 3 parts you need to do:

* Limit switch for X & Y: [to] machine proximity switches
* X,Y stepping control signal. Common +, DIR- and PUL - [to] stepping motor driver
* Power control: TL, PWM, GND [to] laser power supply

plus, DC 24V for the mainboard and the stepping motor driver

Dir +, PUL + are not there.
We have PUL, ENA, OPTO, DIR

That's it. Your diagrams show dir+ dir- pul+ pul-
That's why we are having a hard time man ;)

For M415, it is OPT DIR PUL
Forget about the "ENA". Not used

Here is the connection:

DSP __________Stepper controller
5V __________ (PLS+ and DIR+), (OPTO for M415)
DIR __________ DIR-
PUL _________ PUL-

Ok, so I've started.
ANd this is what I've done so far:

24v power supply,this is what I connected so far:

L, N, nothing right now (but that's red and black to the power button)
Ground: machine ground
Com -> 24V (on the AWC 608)
V+ -> Gnd (on the AWC 608)

AWC 608, this is what I've connected so far:
PWM -> IN (on the Laser power supply)
TTL -> TH
G -> WP and G

LASER POWER SUPPLY
AC -> power
AC -> power

That's a start, am I doing this right?
I'll try the stepper connection tomorrow.
Thanks!

This is the wrong way around. Com stands for COMMON, also can be thought of as ground (But it's not specifically referred to ground as the PSU's usually have floating grounds so they can be connected in series). V+ is Voltage +, ie the 24V.
