engrave once, cut twice

Hello!

Is it possible to engrave first (1 time) and then cut 2 or 3 times to cut out the engraved piece?

If so, where can i find that setting?

Something LaserCut has and LaserCad does not is the ability the specify how many times a layer is processed. So your request would be easy in LaserCut.
Here's how I would do it:

Select the object requiring mutiple cut passes.
Make sure the Nudge and Paste offset are set to the same value (since you can not set paste offset to 0)
Copy the object then paste it using CTRL-C and CTRL-V
Move the pasted object back over the original with the keyboard arrow keys.
Change the color of the pasted object to an unused color.
Specify the cut parameters for the new cut path color.

Repeat to generate a third pass.

Agreed, just make a new layer of the same thing over the top.

You could also process the engraving first, then disable the engraving output and set repeat times for the cutting when you re-download it, but that's a bit less elegant.

yeh, I've found out that way myself but stil, it is not very professional and how do you rase the table between the shapes that you put on top of the other? I'm building a automatic table like this one:

Can you send a screen shot for the LaserCut. It's strange as Li, the programmer was the one who created the LaserCut. I talked with him last night and he said that he didn't recall mutiple cut was possible per layer.

Anyway, he said that he would add that function for the future release. Right now, he is working on a big project -? Print Driver

What is the main difference between lasercut and lasercad?

The focused laser beam has an hour-glass shape. If you raise the table between cuts, the top piece will be cut again wiht a wider beam, reducing power to the focus point of the beam. So raising the table is not a good idea.
LaserCut was written for the Leetro MCP6515 controller. Although it will only work with the 6515, for some reason it requires a dongle. LaserCad was written for the AWC608 controller, th e one we discuss here. LaserCad supports network connections and does not require a dongle.

I do not have LaserCut installed anymore, but if you look at the users manual you can see the "Times" option in the output window. This controls the number of time a layer is executed.

I thought that when you download it to the machine you can specify how many times the job is run? If its a simple design that has one cut path then just choose to run it twice or however many times it takes.

Hi all
I do it different, I first color the engraving and the cutting with different colors then download the engraving first, then download the cutting and here I select how many times it should be cut.
but this only works with others then BMP because BMP let you only engrave not cutting for this you need to create a image outline in the tool submenue.
