Lasercad runtime error

Hi, I've been playing around for a few days since I got my setup working. I've been creating files on my new win 7 desktop pc using corel draw 12, then transefering them via flash drive to my xp laptop that I use to run the laser (its in a workshop 20meters away so the network doesn't reach).

I've just come to load an updated design and try it out, but whenever I try to import the file it crashes with a C++ runtime error. It doesn't do it for all files, just this new one and one that I made on sunday but didn't get chance to try out.

Any ideas? I've tried to reinstall lasercad but to no avail.

Sounds like the file got corrupted somewhere along the line. I'd try re-generating it and putting it on the flash drive again.

I managed to export it as a plt file and that worked. It doesn't seem to like big dxf files anymore. I have the original corel file somewhere I'll try doing it as a dxf again.

When I find a file format that works well, I usually write it down and put it on/near the computer somewhere. DXF, like many file formats, has many different versions. There is a good chance LaserCAD will only support select ones.

all I can think of is that the file got corrupt a little, I managed to find a slightly earlier version, (thank god for obsessive saving)and brought it up to date then exported it asa new named dxf file and it workeda treat. now though I export them all, run a test then save it as the lasercad preferred file onto the laptop, so there's not transfer, then if I update the file I save it as a different file name. Hopefully this will avoid stuff like this in future.
