LaserCAD bug: BMP layers not working properly

Post by Things »

Hey guys, well, I am finally getting grips on my machine now!

However, there is 1 problem that I can't seem to figure out!

When I import an image to raster, the X axis never moves! On my machine, the Y axis is the one with the card + laser lens.

So the Y works fine, but all it does is just draws a single line!

This only happens with BMP layers though. If I draw a normal shape and set it to engrave, it works fine. If I put in an image and put it's settings to the exact same, the X axis doesn't move!

Note: If I set the BMP layer to X swing, it works fine, but doesn't work on Y swing!

Tried it on multiple machines, and it doesn't work with Y swing on any of them.

Regards,

Technically, there is no Y-Swing. For most installations, Y axis has a lot more mass to move. Trying to move that much mass for bi-directional engraving does not do well. When using the Y axis as your engraving axis, you have to select y-unilateralism.

Curious... Is there a particular reason you decided to use Y instead of the more traditional X?

I used Y instead of X just because of how my machine is set up basically.

I can switch it around easily enough, just seems kind of odd that Y swing doesn't work at all.

Hi Marco, thanks for bringing up the issue :)

Will try the new software soon, but I just sold my XY rails, so need to buy the ones from you first! :)
