wiring diagrams for DSP2012, stepper controllers, power...
my dhl just came in, thanks marco
i had to pay 18% tax on the stuff, shipping too
the only thing i know how to use out of that box is a pair of safety goggles
does anyone have wiring diagrams for this stuff.
its sure fun to figure out how to wire it, sort of like figuring out a new cellphone, but i really dont want to take chances with this stuff

Once I have a final version manual from the supplier in about a week, I'll work out a folder for all download

Hi concretevapor, if you do a search for Tim Wehr you will find he has written a lot on how to set up the DSP and also a circuit diagram of where to put things.
About the only thing that is really critical is the power in wires but they are marked very well so that shouldn't be an issue.
Read through the forums and you will get an insight on what to expect and there is a wealth of info for you to digest while you wait.
Rich.

thanks marko the diagram is helpful
rich, thanks for the info, is he in this forum also or?
for the power supply connection, on the diagram for port 5 it says "PWN"? "P/IN"? vs "IN" on the unit itself. i am curious what they mean, i couldnt make out what it said on the diagram it was a bit pixellated
where does the second micro stepper driver go?
what gauge wire do you recommend for this?
thank you

There in the picture are 4 block connectors for 3 wire each and from left to right the order is: plug one (X), plug 2 (Y), plug 3 (Z) and 4 (U).
In my system I only use X and Y and my micro stepping drivers are very similar to yours and they will do a very good job once you adjust them.
As far as the wire goes I'm using # 18 and it does just fine. I hope it helps

i've been away from my laser for about a month now...cant wait to get my hands back on it!!
had to go back to istanbul for my alternative knee therapy (so painful, more like torture)
the funny red cable that comes from the laser tube power supply which resembles an antenna..it is a screw on cable...
i assume it is the power cable that has to be connected to the laser but cant be too sure.
if it is so, would it matter if i splice it to the existing cable or properly solder it onto the tube?
best

Hi buddy,
Sorry I just got to see your replay. I'm been out of town for 2 weeks now and I haven't been able to play with my toy either for a while, I miss it!.
I hope your knee is doing much better now and I can't imagine how painful it can be but as you say, it is more like a torture so that must be a very interesting experience.
I don't know if you been able to solve the problem you have about the red cable coming from the laser and I wish I could help you with that one but I don't understand exactly what is your question. I guess I need to be neat to my machine so I can remember what is the configuration I have on it. Good thing is that I'll be coming home tomorrow then I will be able to play more with it again.

Yes, the red cable coming from the laser power supply is to be connected to the laser tube. The smaller wire that comes out of the PSU is to be connected also.
I would advise against soldering to the tube as you may crack the glass from thermal expansion.

Yes, best to wrap the cable around a couple of times and just clamp it with an aligator clip or use a BNC connector made for earth wires. (the one with 2 screws on it).
Even though the voltage is around 20K volts there isn't too much amperage to burn things out if you have a loose connection so clamping the wire on is ok. Just make sure it is a good connection though.
