How to set JOG increment on 2012 DSP

Post by toymanf »

Can someone please advise me on how to set the JOG distance in the controller. It currently jogs/moves about 1 inch per button press. I tried changing the "inching" setting in the lcd menu. I did not notice anything different.
As always, a step by step explanation would be greatly appreciated.
I have verified a 50mm square is engraved as 50mm so I do have my steps per mm set properly.
Thank you for any help you can offer,
Frank

That's setup by Key_Move_Speed under the User Parameters.

1) Open up system options (Options Menu->System Options).
2) Select User Parameters from the left hand tree view.
3) Click Read button (this reads current settings from your DSP controller)
4) Change Key_Move_Speed to what you want it to be.
5) Click the Save button (this saves the changes back to the DSP controller)

Thank you very much Gadroc.
I did not think to try that since it is labeled as "speed".
I will change that and report back.

The DSP can't do JOG. The step is pretty much fixed in current version. I have talked to the programmer about it and his reply was that the hardware need to be change in order to add JOG function. It's a big project to do it. He said that it won't be available and not was planning to add it for the current model.

I changed the "Key move speed" from 200(default) to 10. I can now move the laser head head in much smaller steps per button press.
The laser head will move continuously if the button is held down.
This is what I was after.
That's one more item I now understand.
Thanks again for the info,

Actually, it isnt the best way but it woek to some extend. I was making a suggestion ty adding a user defined stepping or a more user friendly control. The way you'are dong will slow down the overall stepping speed

Good news folks!

After I talked to the engineer, he re-write code on the LCD panel to improve the stepping issue. I have 10 cards coming tomorrow and I'll test how good it is. If the change provide better handling, then I'll order the new Chip from the manufacturer.

Then you folks just send me $5 to cover shipping & my staff handling fee, I'll mail one to you. Simply open the metal case and take the old IC out and replace it with new IC should take care it. I'll appreciate if you can mail me back the old IC as it's programmable. We can use it for future upgrade.

If anyone interested, please reply here. I need to reserve it as the manufacturer only do me one time favour for free replacement.

Marco

Hello Marco,
I would be interested in the upgrade once the full details are released.
Thanks for the hard work you put in to making this controller the best it can be.

I'd be interested. I use console based origin almost exclusively. Allowing more accurate jog / origin placement would be great.

I too would like this chip.
Your Tech support is really very good to you Marco and it looks like they can see the benefits of what your trying to do, have the best DSP on the market.

Sor far we have 4 in two days. Hopefully I can get all counts within next 3 days as a new shipment should be scheduled in next 3~4 days.
By the way, the louzy DHL didn't delivery the box I needed badly. They delivered 2/3 boxes and exclude the DSP and my power module!

Recently DHL always missed packages and delivery incompleted package. The missing package should come tomorrow

Received 10x DSP just about 30min ago. Did some test and found that the stepping got better improvement on mic-step. But the step can't be controlled as much you can. For very light press, I could get as small as 0.1mm movement. But for just a little harder, it could jump as much as 2mm per step. But compare to the previous one which could do as small as 10mm, this is a great improvement. I'll talk to the programmer see if he can 'polish' the stepping and fine tuned it

I"ll post a sample later

Marco
