3 digit mini Green LED 100v voltmeter

I recently received some of these digital panel meters and when connected as the downloaded data sheet shows with 5v regulated input the digits are very dim. The decimal point is a little brighter, but I can barely distinguish between the lit and unlit digits.
I've tried all 4 meters and all act the same indicating I'm doing something wrong.

Any ideas?

off the top of my head, i would first check the output of the 5-volt regulated power supply you are using to power it and check this at the voltmeter--make sure the power supply is good and it could be possible you have too long a length of the type wire you are using or something else causing a voltage drop.
