I'm building a laser cutter / engraver and thinking of using the DSP controller. The steppers are nema 17, 3v, 1.6 ohm, with 200 step/rev. What is the best stepper drive to use with the DSP? Do they need to be individual drives or will a three axis or four axis TB6560 board work as well?
Thanks,
Jay

Re: DSP and Stepper Drives
For such a small motor, the 1-axis TB6560 should be fine.
I'm assuming that you're building a small machine for 2ft x 1 ft or less.
You need two of this: http://www.lightobject.com/1-Axis-CNC-L ... -P451.aspx

Re: DSP and Stepper Drives
Thanks Marco. The cutting area of the machine is 24 x 18, with a powered Z axis. I'm also planning on a rotary attachment. I went with the Nema 17 motors to keep the gantry weight as light as possible. If these little guys don't seem up to the job I have some Nema 23 motors with more power.
Thanks,
Jay
