Door switch

Post by rapturedbyrobot »

Can't get the door switch to work. Wired between In1 and ground. Selected the Door option in LaserCad but the laser fires no matter what. Checked inputs with continuity meter and In1 - In5 seem shorted to ground. That doesn't seem right. Faulty controller?

Press "STOP" & "SHIFT" to get into a 'secrete' menu on the LCD unit where you can turn on the Door lock protection.
Been telling the programmer to make it the way how AWC608 is doing- through LaserCad. For some reason he said that it has to be done on the LCD control unit.

What I did with this as this is a major safety issue was to wire the door switch into the water protect of the laser PSU. I had the door switch protection enabled in LaserCAD settings, but pushing the "Cut Box" or "Light" buttons would still allow the laser to fire. All the door switch being open was doing was to pause the program when it was running or keep it from starting. I considered this to be unacceptable for a Class IV laser.

Thank you for the input. I totally agreed your point. We're going to supply DIY kit and a retail laser machine to the LA school district soon. So safety is our #1 priority. I have informed that to the programmer and he will make the change for us.
