AWC608C Problem

Post by Hukyo »

Hello, I've bought a AWC608C laser board controller for my laser.
I use n° 2 Leadshine easy servo motor ES-M32320 (http://www.leadshine.com/productdetail. ... =ES-M32320) with their leadshine driver ES-D508 (http://www.leadshine.com/productdetail. ... el=ES-D508).
I have a problem with the AWC608c control. I can't reach high rotation speed of motors, and also the motors showcase an abnormal running. You can see it in the attached videos. With the AWC608C controller, the motors can't run more than 5 rps (revolutions per second).

Instead with a direct control of the driver of the motor (through a Protuner software) the motor can reach 50 rps: see it in the attached video.

The motor are set 51200 pulse per revolution. At 5 rps the pulse frequency is only 256kHz. I've read in the specification of the control board that the max main frequency is up to 150MHz.

What's the problem? I've made something wrong? Can someone help me please?

I noticed some erratic moves while engraving when i had set my stepperdriver to 40000 pulses/rotation and exceeded 6.5 rps.. That is similar to your 52000 / 5rps: i think the max data-transfer-rate to the stepperdrivers (servo's in your case) is ~250khz.
With cutting i reached higher speeds. Both are too fast to do anything usefull. You even can't engrave paper @ 1500mm/sec
But If you reduce the microstepping-setting to somewhat lower.. you can exclude the data-transfer-limit.

Do you see the same erratic motion when you let the controller draw a box?

How many teeth does the timingpulley has, and what is the pitch (for example 20teeth 5mm pitch gives you 100mm/rotation, if you don't have any further reduction)

I have made a 100W co2 Laser cuttin machine.
https://www.facebook.com/caxmodel/photo ... =3&theater
I need to reach 500 mm/s during non cutting movement, 150 during cutting movement and 300 during engraving movement.
I have a Shimpo inline gearbox ratio 10 and 40 teeh timingpolley pitch 5mm.
(500 mm/s) / (40 teeth * 5mm)=2.5rps 2.5rps*10ratio=25 rps
I need to reach at least 25 rps.
I have tried reduce the microstepping but the problem not disappear.
You say twith the awc 608C due data transfer limit I can't reach the speed I have calculated?

And another issue of this control is the absence of the look-ahead function: in the corner during hight speed movement the machine shake too much.

There is another better control?

First I want you to reconsider the use of the 1:10 reduction.. Your gantry looks not too heavy. With a 3nm stepper I can accelerate my bridge (~2kg) about 3G's to 2000mm/sec! without reduction. Only thing I notice is the beltstretch. But I use only 10mm wide belts.. If I designed my machine with 20 or 25mm wide belts it would be a lot better.
Personally I think that a reduction of 1:2 or even 1:1.5 would be more than you will ever need.

Have you checked the wiring to the controller. Interference can give you troubles.
Have you checked what the results are when you select the other flange (Pulse edge: Rising or Falling edge)
What are your Manufacturers Parameters and User Parameters in the System Settings?
