DSP shows "System Reset"

Post by asbest »

Hello!
I have a big trouble. My DSP works without protection against differences in an electrical network (shame on me). Recently the electricity suddenly was gone has disappeared and has instantly appeared. After that DSP shows an inscription "System Reset" and it works is nothing. I don't know what to do.
Thanks.

When power is turned on to the DSP, it goes into System Reset mode. For that to be successful, and be ready to run, the following must happen:
  • 1. Laser head is moved to x,y = 0,0
    2. Then the head moves out a bit (x,y ~ 1,1 or some small amount)
    3. The home switches are released
    4. The DSP knows it is at 0,0 position and reset is complete.
Things to check:
  • When you turn power on, does the head move? (X and Y both move, X only, Y only, Neither?)
If one or both do NOT move, then:
You may have blown out the stepper driver(s)
It may be that you have damaged the power supply going to stepper drivers - check voltages.
One test, if one or both are not moving on their own, is to:
  • 1. With power OFF, manually move head to center of your work area.
    2. Turn power on
    3. Try to manually move the laser head to X,Y = 0,0 and then back out at least 10 mm in each direction.
    4. Did the system finish resetting?
Note: IF you are able to move the head by hand, it means you are not getting power through the drivers to the motor(s), so the problem is:
  • Power supply failure
    Driver failure
    Motor failure
If you canNOT move the head by hand AND the system is still in Reset mode, then it is likely that something happened to the DSP card.

Hope all this helps. Let us all know what you find.

It's sometimes very simple to overlook but have you checked for a blown fuse in the power supplies?

Can you move the laser head by hand when the machine is powered up. If you can do this easily then your drives have a problem. No power or blown drives. Check with a meter. (whoops, just noticed Tim has said the same thing..... :-(

When you do a system reset the x and y go to the home position and zero out, just like Tim says, and then it returns to the last position where you pressed the "Origin" button.
So if your laser head was sitting at 5,5 and you press the "Origin" button then pressed "Reset" the head does a zero or "Home" move for the axis and then returns to the 5,5 position.
If the laser doesn't sense the limit switches being hit then it continues to drive the head until it reaches the "soft limits" of the machine which you have set up in the "table size" check boxes and then stops.

One thing I would like is a numerical display of where the head is, shown on the interface or computer screen as it makes things easier to set up for future jobs and also where you need to get the 0,0 point of a circle. I had this feature on my last DSP and it was very handy. I miss it.

Not much else I can think of except try check all the wiring with a Volt Meter to see if you are getting power to all the right places.

The AC side as well as the DC side.

Hello!
Unfortunately, DSP has been damaged. I'd like to buy new commerical DSP CO2 Laser Engraving/ Cutter Controller ELSR-4XDSPV2 (Blue front panel) supporting CorelDraw & AutoCad.
What kind of software comes with it and what other softwares can using for DSP?
Thanks.
