100mA blue digital ammeter flashes E.E.E during laser firing

Post by itsmillertime »

Hi was hoping you may be able to help with this. Wether I test fire or engrave/cut my milliammeter (that I purchased from here) flashes E.E.E intermittently when the laser is firing. When the laser isn't firing it indicates -0.00 The reading varies between 0.3 all the way up and there is no logic to the readings? does E.E.E mean over current?

The settings on the DSP AWC608 only have the laser set at 30% the tube I'm using is a 40w with a 40w power supply. I'm still setting the machine uo to get it working how I want. But it seems to engrave ok at the moment.

Any pointers please of where to look to fix this issue.

Thanks

Did you connect it to the high side of the PSU? If so, don't do it. It must connect to the negative side
Also, try to reverse the 'green'/'blue' wire (on the meter) see if it fix the issue

Floating "-" or "0.01" is normal when no current is flowing because the ampmeter is in 'floating' point when the tube is not firing. The tube is 'vacuum' and act like 'open' circuit
