I think I'm following the instructions correctly, but clearly I'm missing something...
I have a LO-X7 (from the first batch) currently running v1.14.11.05. I'm trying to load the patch "LO-X7_150120.rar". What I've done so far:
- Unrar'ed to get LO-X7_150120.UG5 (1/22/2015 @ 10:54AM, 496KB)
- Copied the .ug5 to a brand new Kensington 8GB USB memory stick (formatted FAT32). The .ug5 is the only thing on the memory stick.
- Plugged the memory stick into the USB port on the front of the display
- Power-cycled (>20x) -- each time just goes directly to the main screen with the test duck image
- I also tried pushing "reset" (>10x) with the same result
- I also tried plugging the memory stick into an extension cable plugged into the USB connector in the back of the display, just to cover all the bases, and then tried both power cycling (3x) and resetting (3x), again with the same result
As suggested, I made sure to give plenty of time (>15secs) after the main screen comes up to make sure there just wasn't a delay between the start-up and the .ug5 being recognized.
So what step am I missing. I MUST be doing something wrong. I know the instructions said it may take several attempts before the memory stick is recognized, but I've tried literally 20+ times at this point with absolutely no luck.
Thank you for any help,
Joe

Re: Unable to apply OS patch to LO-X7
IIRC the earlier version required the memory stick to be formatted as FAT32.
Try it!

The memory stick IS formatted FAT32 -- I saw that note and checked. But thanks for the suggestion.

Small stick... okay, I'll see if I can find one somewhere.
Thanks,

Re: Unable to apply OS patch to LO-X7
Last night, as suggested, I tried two different smaller (4GB -- the smallest ones I could readily scrounge) memory sticks, but no luck with them either.
BUT... I found an alternate and better way to do the update!, and I'm guessing many may not be aware of it.
This is for the LO-X7... turns out there's a menu item to load a patch/update file directly.
1) Menu
2) 01. Udisk files<enter>
3) 03. Upgrade files<enter>
It'll display a list of .ug5 files on the thumb drive plugged into the front socket.
4) highlight the file, then <enter>
and it immediately loads the file.
5) Then I did a reset just in case
After reset, the version number now shows as v1.15.01.20.

I don't know about "an alternate way"
As far as I know that is "the way" to upgrade.
How else would you do it?

Re: Unable to apply OS patch to LO-X7
From recent post by Marco, this seemed to be the published method to do an update, but I could never get it to work on my LO-X7:Greolt wrote:I don't know about "an alternate way"

Since no one mentioned any other method to do an upgrade (and in fact at least a couple people inferred that the power-cycling method had worked for them), I guessed maybe that I had discovered a method that was not widely known. Maybe I was the only one in the dark about this.Marco wrote:For LO-X7 DSP card only (similar to AWC708C). Do not use it on AWC608!
download/software/dsp/LO-X7_150120.rar
Copy and unzip the file (UG5 extension) to a USB memory stick on the root.
Note that, the USB memory stick must be formatted in "FAT32" or it won't be able to read.
It may take a couple times to get the memory to be recognized by the DSP card. Recycled power may be required
During upgrade, do not power off the DSP or the card will suffer from damage (bricked)!
