Purchased the X7 DSP Controller and ECNC-2M542 stepper motor drivers (probably overkill) and am having trouble getting the 2 to play together.
I'm fairly certain I have everything connected properly (based on the diagram that was given to me) however when I move the axis from the controller, the motor starts to turn then makes a very loud screeching sound.
I initially set the driver to the lowest power setting 1A and the micro-stepping to it's lowest (400) and have literally tried just about every combination possible with the same result.
It almost acts as though the motors are being told to go way faster than what they need to be. Are these 2 pieces compatible and if so, what am I doing wrong?

You didn't say where you used to, like what kind of motor are you trying to drive
You don't want to set the micro-step to 400 but 1600, 3000, 3200 , 4000 depends on the motor you use
Current, well again you didn't say what motor so I have no idea what setting it should be set to. You need to find out the current rating of the motor
Then, you have to setup proper 'um' value under manufacturer parameters. Do some search on the forum as it has been mentioned many times how to do the 'um'

Re: Trouble with X7 DSP & ECNC-2M542 stepper driver
Thank you for the quick response. It's a bi-polar motor rated at 1.68A. With what you told me I was able to get the motors running without screeching and set the driver to the correct amperage.
The manual I have is for the AWC608 which has completely differnt menu options. I could not find any posts related to setting the manufacturer parameters for the AWC708C (I don't see a menu option either on the controller). I apologize for my ignorance...

Both card are using the same LaserCad to set parameters so there is no difference between for those two cards. Just follow the manual that I sent you and follow it to set the um and the way how to calibrate the um that I had posted here (just do a search).
