Shock from head unit USB
I just powered up the X7 for the first time and it fired right up (in Chinese though, I'm sure it's just a setting). What is bothering me is when I plugged in a USB to the back I noticed the metal jacket from the USB cable would give me a little shock. I also noticed when I touched the metal jacket around the ethernet housing, I got the same little shock. Right now all I have is the power supply powered up, the control unit and the head unit plugged into it. Weird, I hope it isn't a short in the unit somewhere.

Re: Shock from head unit USB
If you have a laser power supply installed, even though you didn't fire there is low current running. Make sure you GROUND your machine/frame well. I mentioned this times and times and ....times..... but most folks just either ignored it or don't care. Things will get worst once you fire the laser in full power if without proper grounding. For example, the LCD screen may fade out and flash then reseting itself. In worst scenerio, the accumulate static will get strong enough to cause hardware damage or electric shock .
So, grounding, grounding, grounding,............................................., and all grounded. Period

First time I've heard about the CO2 power supply leaking voltage, but its still in the box. I literally only have the 24v power supply laying on a table, powering up the x7. I guess I could run an additional ground wire on the 24v power supply to see if that stops it. Now that I know, I may run an extra grounding rod to hook up to my metal frame, then make sure I have everything grounded to it. Stray voltage can kill delicate electronics quick!

Not just laser power can leak, most power with coil like transformer will does. A high current switching power supply generate a lot of static because it is operating in high frequency and the EMF is easy to escape oit from the high frequency transformer. In some case, even ground doesn't help a lot for the laser power supply as I have experienced a few days ago when I was doing tests

I isolated it. Just got to be careful I guess. I just saw where you posted about the 80/20 not being a good conductor. I'm making mine out of steel tubing, so I should be able to get good grounds on anything with a metal case.
