USB failure to connect

Post by Greolt »

This has been a long time issue for me.

Using USB for connection between computer and AWC608

Every time I download a file to the AWC608 it just sits there and fails to download.

I must disconnect the USB cable. This then displays a dialogue stating that communication has failed. Dismiss that dialogue, and download again and it ALWAYS succeeds.

Now I know people are going to say I have an earthing problem. But it ALWAYS succeeds the second time.

Another thing is, it never fails when uploading a system settings change. Only when sending a cut file to the controller.

I have a hard time seeing this as anything other than a software issue.

Tried different computers and the problem is always there.

Does any one else see this problem? Or is it only me?

OK 27 reads and no response.

I guess I am the only one seeing this issue.

Funny thing how consistent it is.

It happens to me as well. It also happened before I changed my machine to a LightObject DSP controller. At that time I was using a different PC so it cannot be operating system specific. i still cannot isolate what is causing the problem. i would like to see a solution though,.

Thought I'd answered this in detail (maybe on a different thread?), but - put simply - it happens to me too (but a slightly different pattern)

I saw it happened before but I have no solution as it didn't happen often. It happened occupationally on some card/PC. I was told by the programmer "Li" who said that it was the USB chipset issue. He has no solution either. It is not just the AWC608 but it happened to most DSP card in the market (China).

If you use Win7 or Win8, it happened more often. You may want to change USB slot and/or using shorter USB cable. Sometimes, you may want to format the DSP. FYI, I'm using Win7 and Win8 but I didn't get the issue once it worked. It could be the USB resources relocation issue as Win7 and Win8 has stronger security. Again, try other USB and use the LsaerCad to detect new COM port for it

Ok so its a LaserCad/Windows/chipset issue. :D

I give up. Gone over to Ethernet. So far reliable.

Thanks all.

I had very similar problems sending over the network (but, then, my domestic network is none too brilliant!)

I have had the same problem happen with ethernet. I have to send the file twice to get it to work. Last time I ran the laser it failed all together.

Me too (same problem with ethernet).
I'm thinking of making up a button box (or automated relay) to disconnect and reconnect the USB between jobs - but so much else to do!!
