MARCO! Comms problems since upgrade - HELP - getting worse

Post by NickWL »

I've been having really bad communication problems between computer and DSP since the last LaserCAD/DSP firmware upgrade.
Am I alone?
Nick

UPDATE
The USB connection works sometimes, as does the IP connection. The rest of the time none of these help:
Changing the cables
Rebooting K40
Rebooting PC
Rebooting both
Checking earth connections to a common point everywhere I can see anything metallic.

Tonight after FOUR HOURS I've managed to transfer a 4" line - once.
WHAT is going on?
HELP PLEASE!!!!

Next day (or two) I'm getting comms but I have to unplug the USB every time and put it back in.
Now I get resets followed by a signal to drive the z-table up to the top of its travel making a resume impossible.

MARCO! Where are you when I need you?

Hello Nick

So sorry I missed your post.Very busy here because of a new shipment just arrived
How is thing going? Is your problem fixed or still? What happened if you downgraded the OS patch?

Next time you didn't see my reply, you may PM me or email us

Again, my apology not being able to get back to you soon

Thanks Marco - didn't want to hassle you because I know you have no patience with people who haven't tried really hard to fix their problems before yelling for help!
I can't find the downgrade dap file or the earlier version of LaserCAd so I haven't done that.
Usually I can cure the comms problem by removing the USB lead, waiting, replacing it and trying again.
The network connection hardly ever works (but it does sometimes - infuriating!).

My much bigger problem is a fairly regular spontaneous resets in mid-job. I'm trying o find a really well protected mains socket-strip as my next trial fix.
Meanwhile: when it's good it's very very good, and when it's bad it is horrid!

:?
I just sent you a link for an oder patch that was one version older.
Give it a try.

It sounds strange to me that happened from the new patch. It didn't happened to my machines here.
You may want to double check the connection and confirmed that you have good grounding because the problem you have seems more like that it is statics issue due to poor grounding

Hi Marco
I can't find this retro-patch; I thought I was being to hasty so waited a while.
I've just had another search and still can't find it. Where did you send it please?

I am doing a run of 200 items (a large - 4" - decorative key, 6up on a sheet) and every four or five sheets I get a system reset and lose that piece of material!
I've checked my earthing yet again but it really does seem to be OK - I wonder if I'm missing something...

Got it this time - thanks!
I may not be able to 'play' today - wife's birthday and she might want me to say hello to her... They do that on these occasions.
